Is out on 25th August and have been waiting for this.

I'm not sure I like what Collector's Choice have done with the cover though.Miniaturized album covers held in her hands-a stupid joke of a presentation imho.I would have preferred if they had made the album covers as large as possible and placed them side to side.

Not quite as bad compared to a reissue of Jefferson Airplane's "Bark" and "Long John Silver",where they superimposed the fish head over the cigars. :ohno:

I'll still buy it as it is Mama Cass.

I've got the album on the left, but the one on the right I've never seen before. Master Hare is going for a complete run of a major group? What will be next? Complete runs of minor groups?

Most major artists you could put a name to I've got a minimum of four or five albums of their best work, and many others complete runs.(I've been blitzing Todd Rundgren's catalogue recently). In other cases I keep adding to these major artists all the time, gradually picking up another album to add to the rest, although with some I do lose interest if I feel I've covered the essential items in their catalogue. The new Neil Young remasters are another four I've done recently too.

The Mamas and Papas are east to collect, five studio efforts and the "Live at Monterey" on One Way which I still don't have, but will get at some point. Then there's all the solo material and other offshoots that are an added diversion which I've also been chipping away at with this this group and with other favourites too.

I also have collected runs of minor groups, and many obscurities are also a must on my "to buy list".

Great news! Thanks, Jay! :-D In that case I can forgive them the cover design.

Thanks for sharing the info Jay.

I still haven't ordered this-I'm put off completely by the cover.
It's an aberration.I might even try to e-mail Collector's Choice and politely ask them not to do this sort of cover design again.Full marks for Vic Anesini on the mastering though, but then they spoil the packaging ! :arrgh:

I have to get it-the music is the most important thing.

Full page reproductions of the two covers are included in the booklet. I agree the main cover artwork is stupid. But glad to finally have the music. It sounds good. The liner notes from Cass's daughter are nice to read --- if not a little inconsistent in places. No full musician credits are readily available but the notes do allude to such players as Chris Spedding.

Who were married and who were divorced on the same day in 1971?

from http://www.time.com/time/magazine/artic ... 34,00.html

Milestones, Jul. 12, 1971
Monday, Jul. 12, 1971

Married. Mama Cass Elliott, 27, brobdingnagian belter of pop-rock tunes; and Donald von Wiedenman, 27, writer-actor and heir to a Bavarian barony; she for the second time, he for the first; in West Hollywood.

Divorced. Vic Damone, 43, Brooklyn-born supper-club crooner; and Judy Rawlins, 35, onetime television actress; after seven years of marriage, three children (he has a fourth child by Screen Star Pier Angeli); in Hollywood. Though he revealed in court that he is nearly broke and is considering bankruptcy. Damone agreed to support payments of $2,100 per month.

Meaning colossal size eh ? You're trying to discombobulate the board's membership with this lexicon.

Didn't know her husband was heir to a Bavarian barony.

That actually is an awful cover! I am always thankful for the things that Collector's Choice releases on CD, though I am always disappointed with the packaging...

These two albums are being issued as mini-lp sleeve CDs in Japan on October 21, 2009.

According to the Cass Elliot forum, they will include the following bonus tracks:

Cass Elliot
cat No. BVCP-40111
2 bonus tracks
We'll See
Try It, Baby

The Road Is No Place For A Lady
cat No. BVCP-40112
4 bonus tracks
East Of The Sun
Theme From L'Amour
I Think a Lot About You (Studio Version)
Listen to the World

Thank goodness I will be able to get rid of the awful looking Collector's Choice CD!

I bought the twofer a few weeks ago and have really enjoyed it, though I kind of wish I'd waited so I could pick up the Japanese releases.

I wonder if The Road Is No Place For A Lady will use the same remix of If You're Gonna Break Another Heart as the twofer, or if it will revert to the original version.

These have been released in Japan. The packaging is very nice, especially the gatefold sleeve of "Cass Elliot". I haven't listened to them yet, so I'm not sure whether the mix of "The Road Is No Place For A Lady" is the same one used on the Collector's Choice disc or not. I'm guessing not, since the credits name several Japanese people as reissue producer, product manager, and mastering, while the liner notes of the Collector's Choice disc state "...the whole album has been lovingly remastered by Cass' original producer, her daughter and her sister." I never heard the album until recently so I'm not sure I will notice the difference or not, but I will try and compare them.
