Amazing! I can give nothing but praise to EMI for the brilliant, classy job they've done on the UFO remasters from 1974-1986, and just when I thought they were done, they are really pulling out the stops with 1983's "Headstone".
Shortly after they broke up in late 1983 this bizarre double album came out with UFO classics, and "family tree" bands included like MSG, Wild Horses and Scorpions. Also included were 5 killer live tracks from their final tour of the UK in late '83.
Now this album is remastered, dropping all the hits and material from other bands and adding the rest of the live show (except songs that had previously appeared on live albums)! I assume this is the end of the remasters, but I can't believe this one and for any UFO diehard this is awesome news!

Product Description
Digitally remastered and updated edition of this 1983 release from the Hard Rock pioneers. The original Headstone album, released when the band initially split, featured studio tracks from UFO and side projects plus five previously unreleased live cuts. This updated edition takes only those five live recordings from the original album and adds six more scorching performances from that same 'farewell' show, making Headstone a purely live experience. UFO are one of the UK's most prolific and influential rock bands - their musical influence can be seen across a host of modern Metal groups and during the course of nearly four decades they have built up an extremely loyal and dedicated fan base. 11 tracks. EMI.

1 We Belong To The Night (live at Hammersmith)
2 Let It Rain (live at Hammersmith)
3 Couldn't Get It Right (live at Hammersmith)
4 Electric Phase (live at Hammersmith)
5 Doing It All For You (live at Hammersmith)
6 Long Gone (live at Hammersmith)
7 Chains Chains (live at Hammersmith)
8 Lonely Heart (live at Hammersmith)
9 Blinded By A Lie (live at Hammersmith)
10 No Place To Run (live at Hammersmith)
11 Mystery Train (live at Hammersmith)

Excellent news!

The original was always a strange beast - the whole idea of sticking WHITESNAKE, THE MICHAEL SCHENKER GROUP, LONE STAR and even THE WILD HORSES(!) on a UFO comp always struck me as utterly bizarre.

I have the very old Japanese 2cd set and I only owned it because at one time it was the only way to hear LONE STAR and THE WILD HORSES on cd anywhere.

Now that every single one of those tracks is available on their own remaster (LONE STAR - both Lps on a BGO cd, THE WILD HORSES - both Lps remastered with bonus tracks in 2 separate versions no less), the original "Headstone" had lost most of its purpose.

Between this and the Bootleg box it looks like UFO are now well covered on cd.

Looks good and I will be buying it but I'm gonna wait for the price to drop a little . All the other UFO titles dropped from around $20 to $14 so I'm hoping this does too.
If anyone is interested Buy.com has the UFO bootleg box at $70 , the cheapest price I've seen .

I just saw the UFO bootleg box set on Best Buys web site for $42.99 . I am ordering it now .

Don:
I don't know if it will drop, although Amazon.com UK has it at 9.98 pounds which is what I had to pay for "making Contact" and "Misdemeanor" which never came down any lower. I can't wait on this title, I'm ordering it next week.
