Experience Hendrix has dropped a nice surprise on us. The Woburn '68 show is the newest addition to the Dagger label release roster.

This was Hendrix's only 1968 Uk performance. For years, this direct to 2-track tape was held by Irish-based(later Italian-based) Hendrix Fanzine "Univibes" which had released 3 Hendrix mail-order CD's, with permission of Alan Douglas. Profits from the "Univibes" Cd's went to Charity, but when Janie Hendrix took over the Hendrix catalogue, she refused permission for "Univibes" to release any further Hendrix CD's, and this tape fell into limbo. Thank You "Univibes" for surrendering the tape. And Thanks Janie for ending the long Hendrix drought and releasing it.

Yes, according to Caesar Glebeek (founder and publisher of Univibes International Jimi Hendrix Magazine), who was given the master tape in 1996--it is a soundboard recording of very good quality.

Just listened to this. Here's my review from Amazon:

Capturing Jimi's July 6th, 1968 performance at the Woburn Music festival, this disc represents the only concert Hendrix gave in England in 1968 (aside from a TV show hosted by Dusty Springfield). Voodoo Child (Slight Return) is played live for only the third time. The show is rough due to amp problems and two songs are not complete (Tax Free and Sgt. Pepper's). I'd say this is the roughest of all Dagger releases, but well worth having for any serious Hendrix fan.

The tragic thing about many 1960s footage and audio was at that time they (Record companies, TV Stations and Radio Stations) did not realise how timeless (and valuable) some of this stuff will be 30-40 years later.

The fact The BBC scrapped 1000s of tapes is an example of this.

Many, many lost performances are gone forever. :sigh:

Thankfully some fans such as the guy who filmed a fragment of The Dusty Show on his 8mm B&W cam we have some rare footage to view. :-D
