Bob Seger scored several regional hits in Detroit and surrounding Midwest states during the late '60s--but it seemed he was destined to be a rock footnote when he recorded this live epic at Detroit's very partisan Cobo Arena in 1976. Seger had already released six Capitol LPs to little national attention at this point, but Live Bullet showcased him at his rockin' best--kind of like the Motor City's own Springsteen--and it caught on. Seger would subsequently delve into MOR dreck, and since Live spotlights a few of his greatest late-'60s and early-'70s rockers--"Ramblin' Gamblin' Man," "Heavy Music," "Lookin' Back"--this remains his best recorded document. --Bill Holdship

Recorded at Cobo Hall in Detroit, MI, Bob Seger's landmark live album is remastered for the first time ever and contains an exclusive, never before released bonus track, "I Feel Like Breaking Up Somebody's Home", restored artwork and updated packaging.

I was about to ask, why bother? It was already remastered.

But then I saw "bonus track."

Aha!!

No "Nutbush City Limit"? Much as I enjoy "Travelin' Man" / "Beautiful Loser", I don't think they will sound right as the opening cut. Oh well, he's missed before. In '78 he opened the tour with "Ain't Got No Money" rather than "Rock N Roll Never Forgets", the latter being my idea at the time of what his perfect first concert song should be.

I hope this is a typo, because if they leave off Nutbush City Limits just to add that bonus track would be ridiculous.

I wonder who is doing the remastering? Robert Vosgien did Against The Wind & Stranger In Town a few years back. Those were pretty well liked as I recall. I found them to be loud.

Punch did Night Moves & Live Bullet - neither of which I liked.

I kept my originals on all 4.

Not sure why the Product Description claims "remastered for the first time ever" for this album. I have a "Limited Collector's Edition" CD in a cardboard LP-jacket facsimile (from 1999, I believe) that is digitally remastered. The gatefold sleeve is heavy-stock cardboard, and the disc reads Capitol Records, Made in the U.S.A.

I picked both titles up at Best Buy for $6.99 each. I really enjoyed the bonus track on Live Bullet, but hate the way it was added. Rather than blending in the track, the original album fades out, then the bonus track kicks on a drum beat, rather than being faded in. Never-the-less, I enjoyed the track and will probably have to make my own mix dropping in the track somewhere more natural.

Still no sign of these at retail. Amazon now says: "A release date has not yet been set for this title."

I'm still trying to figure how is it that he can only find one bonus track to get on this CD, why? Even "Brave Strangers" a well known live B side should've made the cut here. But with Bob's good ole boy manger Punch at the helm I've learned to stop asking questions. It may interest y'all to know that Bob is looking at his vast back catalog of music material to see what's worth releasing. Stay tuned!

I believe both of these Seger live releases actually come out Sept. 13.

Bump: Updated track listing. "Nutbush City Limits" is indeed the first song.

I picked this up today and it sounds better than the last reissue imho.[it's not loud or compressed sounding]

I just paid the same (6.99) for both at BB - and the old ones were going for 9.99. Go figure.

Has anyone compared the sound quality of the new LB to the original which I show as Capitol 46085 (I'm too lazy at the moment to go upstairs & grab the cd for the full upc, but that's the catalog # in the Excel spread sheet of my collection).
