I was browsing through Tower.com and came across a few Santana albums I did not realize had been remastered. My question is-are these legit remasters? They're all listed as Sony/Columbia releases and are only about $6.99 each. Maybe Googa knows, and I also wonder which versions appear in the new 5 pack "Classic Albums" series. Any help is appreciated!
This is what I found for "Inner Secrets" which was remastered in Recorded at Western Recorders, Los Angeles, California in July & August 1978. Edition features a clear tray with improved original artwork.
And this is for "Shango" which was remastered in 1993 (my girlfriend in college actually bought me this in 1993, I no longer have it, but I'm not sure it was this version anyway): Producers: Bill Szymczyk, John Ryan, Carlos Santana, Gregg Rolie. Recorded at the Automatt, San Francisco, California. German remastered reissue includes new artwork.
And this, for "Zebop!" supposedly remastered in 2002: Producers: Bill Graham, Devadip Carlos Santana, Keith Olsen. Recorded at the Automatt, San Francisco, California.
And, "Marathon", remastered in 1992: Producers: Keith Olsen, D. De Vore, Carlos Santana. Santana's MARATHON features 11 remastered tracks inclduing "Aqua Marine" and "Summer Lady."
There are also expensive Japanese imports for "Amigos" and "Festival" which look to be mini-LP reproductions but say they are remastered. It also looks like "Freedom", "Spirits Dancing In The Flesh" and "Beyond Appearances" were reissued in 2007 but not remastered.

Yeah, I looked up all those remasters on amazon when I read this thread yesterday. They do exist. You know you can still get the Santana Japanese mini LP CDs, which were remastered too, on amazon or elsewhere and not only do they sound great but they have the original packaging as well.
