Well, it's about damn time! I hope there are stand alone releases, but if I had to, I'd get the full package-this sounds great! From Billboard.com: After being out of print for more than a decade, the two studio albums from all-star band the Traveling Wilburys will return to the marketplace in a variety of formats June 12 via Wilbury Records/Rhino, Billboard.com has learned. "Traveling Wilburys Volume 1" and "Traveling Wilburys Volume 3" will be available together in one package with bonus tracks and a DVD of rare footage, as a deluxe linen-bound edition, a vinyl set and a digital bundle. The DVD boasts a 24-minute documentary and five music videos. The Wilburys formed in 1988 after Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne and Roy Orbison assembled at a California studio to record a B-side for the Harrison single "This Is Love." The resulting song, "Handle With Care," was instead released under the Wilburys name, with the artists posing as a band of brothers. It went on to reach No. 45 on the Billboard Hot 100, while the "Volume 1" album hit No. 3 on The Billboard 200. The reissued version of the album includes the previously unreleased tracks "Maxine" and "Like a Ship." Orbison died in late 1988 before a second album could be completed; it was eventually released as "Volume 3" in 1990. The set is expanded here with the B-side "Runaway" and "Nobody's Child," which was released on a benefit album for Romanian orphans. 2CD/1DVD, Deluxe Edition http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000OYC1J0/?tag=imwan-20 2CD/1DVD, Standard Edition http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000P0J024/?tag=imwan-20

Hard to believe this has been out of print.
Contains one of the best Dylan's songs of all-time Tweeter And The Monkey Man.

I'm really going to savor this one. I have a lot of personal memories tied into both albums-but especially the first one.

Agreed, SteveT.
The first Wilburys CD received a lot of play back in 1988, and surely brings back a lot of fond memories.
It should be noted that the two bonus tracks ("Maxine", "Like A Ship") that are being placed on the first Volume 1 release were studio outtakes from the Wilburys second album (Volume 3) sessions.
Missing bonus tracks from the upcoming reissued Wilbury expanded CDs are extended versions of "Handle With Care" and "End Of The Line" (which were originally released as bonus tracks on the UK singles), as well as "New Blue Moon (Instrumental)" a bonus track originally found on the "She's My Baby" and "Wilbury Twist" CD singles.
"Runaway" was a bonus track on the "She's My Baby" CD single as well.
Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1

Tweeter And The Monkey Man
End Of The Line
Traveling Wilburys Vol. 3

Wilbury Twist
There are some other *related* CDs out at around this time that share that Wilburys "spirit", as well as sound. Perhaps the common denominator here is Jeff Lynne, who often produced, wrote or co-wrote the songs, or performed on many of these CD tracks.
Jeff Lynne has managed to resurrect the careers of several of his heroes (George Harrison, Roy Orbison, Bob Dylan), as well as more recent arrivals (Tom Petty) and somehow managed to start the Supergroup for Fun Under Silly Names trend with the Traveling Wilburys. In 1988, the five (who had known each other for years) came together to record a George Harrison B-side single for "This Is Love" and ended up writing and recording an album on which they all shared lead vocals.

I highly recommend any of the following CD releases... IMO they all just seem to fit together so well as an extension of the Wilburys CDs for me.
There may be some additional CDs I didn't list that some of you would also include... feel free to mention.
Roy Orbison: Mystery Girl
[1989]
You Got It (Lynne, Orbison, Petty)
In the Real World
(All I Can Do Is) Dream You
A Love So Beautiful (Lynne, Orbison, Petty)
California Blue (Lynne, Orbison, Petty)
She's a Mystery to Me
The Comedians
The Only One
Windsurfer
Careless Heart
Although it had been years since his last recording, Roy Orbison was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. Perhaps as a result of the newfound interest in his music, he was invited to record with the supergroup the Traveling Wilburys. Roy Orbison had a renewed sense of purpose, and also began recording material for a new solo album. Collaborating with Jeff Lynne and Tom Petty, Roy Orbison recreates the feel of his old recordings while sounding modern. His voice sounds as strong as ever, and he is still able to hit the high notes that convey a sad, lonely ache. The highlight of the album is "She's a Mystery to Me," a haunting ballad penned by U2's Bono and the Edge that perfectly plays to all of Orbison's strengths as a singer. Released in the months after his death, Mystery Girl was the highest-charting album of his career and spawned the hit "You Got It" -- it is a shame that Orbison was not around to experience his success. This comeback album represents Roy Orbison at his best.

I still have Vol 1 on cd, but will definitely pick up this set.
And yes I have something of the other Lynne produced albums of other Wilbury's too. and have made some extended Wilbury CDR's for the road.
Cloud 9 and Mystery Girl are both excellent cds (Mystery Girl is to be remastered too). I also recommend the follow to Mystery Girl with other songs recorded before Orbison's death.

It's curious that out of all The Wilbury's, the only one Lynne never produced was Dylan.

For a few short years all those Jeff Lynne linked family of albums brought me a lot of pleasure at a time when IMO pop music generally was in a steep decline thanks to the emergence of a new wave of dance music and rap which I hated.
Lynne also produced Petty's album with the Heartbreakers "Into The Great Wide Open" and some tracks for Randy Newman, Brian Wilson, Del Shannon and IIRC Duane Eddy around this time and a couple of tracks on Orbison's posthumous follow-up release "King of Hearts" including the Big O's version of "I Drove All Night".
They could put a great compilation together of this work and dare I suggest call the collection "Handle With Care".

I don't think Lynne produced Wilson. Don Was produced Wilson in '95.

Lynne produced "Let it Shine" on Wilson's self titled release from 1988.

Correct, just the one track on that Brian Wilson album.
My previous post (now corrected) was meant to include Duane Eddy. I believe Lynne & Harrison worked on a track called "The Trembler" on his 1987 album which was believe it or not based on something by Ravi Shanker. (The track was also included on the Romanian Orphan Album.)
Paul McCartney also contributed to a version of his "Rockestra Theme" on this Duane Eddy album.
You can here bits of both tracks on this Amazon link...
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0000011B2/?tag=imwan-20
Later of course Lynne was to work with McCartney & Starr both seperately and most famously together with Harrison too on "Free as a Bird" and "Real Love" on the Beatles Anthology albums as well as on Harrison's posthumously released "Brain Washed" album.
And lets not forget his recent reunion with Tom Petty on "Highway Companion".

Growing up, ELO, was "my band."
In the late 80's, I was saddened to see the band break up, but was elated at the explosion of Lynne produced albums... albums by my favorite artists.
Mystery Girl, Cloud Nine, the Petty Albums, the Wilbury Albums... and of course, Armchair Theater... they're all one big collection in my memory.
If they collected them all in a $500 Jeff Lynne collection, I'd buy it.

Didn't Lynne also produce the McCartney album "Flaming Pie" back in 1997? I sort of remember that-a very good album from Paul.

Yes, plus he stepped in for George Martin on that final Beatles song prior to George Harrison's death.
I once heard a complaint by Tom Petty that whenever Lynne produced an album for someone, it ended up sounding like a Jeff Lynne album. True, but... you knew that when you hired him.

Supposedly, George Harrison wanted the Brainwashed album to have a very stripped down feel to it - he basically wanted it to sound like demos, but after he died, when Lynne was faced with putting together the final product, he felt the songs were too good to be produced that way and he gave them a more polished final mix. Lynne said this in the DVD about the making of the album. I think he should have respected George's wishes, but the album did turn out good.
Conversely, on Tom Petty's latest, Petty told Lynne that it would just be he, Lynne and Mike Campbell and that he wanted a more stripped down album. And by Lynne's standards, it definitely is.

This is fantastic news.
I get 3-4 people a month in the store I work at looking for these albums and on the odd chance we have them in we price them well over $50, so the reissues will finally allow us to get them in people's hands.
I'm excited/shocked that it's getting a vinyl release as well.
