These two concerts from Montreux in 1991 & 1992 catch Tori right at the start of her solo career; the 1st from July 1991 was recorded a few months before the release of 'Little Earthquakes' and the 2nd from July 1992 followed a few months after. There is a fascinating progression from one year to the next as she grows in confidence and skill as a live performer, buoyed by the critical and commercial success of the album. Includes her distinctive takes on Led Zeppelin's 'Whole Lotta Love' & 'Thank You' and Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.

Bump: the CD and DVD have just been put up for pre-order at Amazon, and I've updated Cali's information above. (These posts have been split off from the Tori thread on our ICEbox board.)

Linda, your current Amazon link for the cd shows "1 disc" (as does the dvd link). Any idea if all the music is on both the cd & dvd, or....?

It turns out that the domestic pressing of the CD (the one listed in the first post) will be just one disc, pared down to 16 tracks. However, the UK pressing is a 2-CD set containing the audio from all the songs which appear on the DVD. Check out the back insert of the UK version for verification:

(Edit: ordering links removed, see below for more info ...)

Both Amazon UK & Amazon US are now showing the import cd as a 1 disc.

You know, I'm just gonna remove the UK pressing links and assume that it was changed to one disc everywhere. Don't want anybody buying from overseas and ending up disappointed.

There's Cali, at least. Calijawn's opening post was originally from the discussion you two were having on the ICEbox board. (It might look like mine 'cos I edited in tracklistings and stuff, but it was Cali's original work.)

I picked up a promo of the CD last week at 'Rama. One disc, 16 songs.

In case anyone's interested, Amazon MP3 service has the CD for download with 3 extra bonus tracks. The three bonus are the three tracks that would've been on just the DVD. Sorry, but it doesn't look like you can buy just the three tracks.

Thanks, Josh. In fact they're calling the MP3 album an "Amazon Exclusive Version":

I'm more of an early Tori fan. Some of the latter stuff just didn't get it for me. I'll probably check this out, though.

Watched over half of the DVD last night. A nice addition to my "collection": albums, singles, ep's, book, VHS (store bought & taped from TV), DVD, and (ahem) rarities/live albums picked up at record conventions.

Finally got the cd today (ordered from Amazon on 10/01/08).

In short, great performance as expected, but the person doing the mastering went really heavy on compression; especially considering it's a solo vocal/piano cd. Really shrill sounding. EAC shows the "peak level" on ALL TRACKS as 99.9%, which is about as compressed as a cd can get........

I had totally forgotten that I had an unofficial cd release of the 1992 show. I just did a quick comparison of the sound quality of the new cd, the new dvd & the unofficial 1992 cd. While the new cd is the clearest, due to the compression I prefer both the dvd & the unofficial 1992 cd.

My suggestion for those who are comfortable doing so is buy the dvd (or possibly the Blu Ray which I will not be able to compare) & rip a legal fair use audio cd back up. It's much easier to listed to then the cd.......

Really pathetic when the compression is this bad. If I sound angry, it's because I consider this a really important release & Eagle (or possibly the UK originating company) BUTCHERED it.
