[bigred]La La Means I Love You/Sound Of Sexy Soul[/bigred]

First ever British CD issue for these two pioneering Philly Soul albums, by one of the most unique and beloved groups ever to emerge from the City Of Brotherly Love.

Between 1968 and 1974, the Delfonics racked 20 US Soul Chart hits. 12 of those made the Top 20, and all but two of them also crossed over to Pop.

Among those hits were 'La La Means I Love You', 'Break Your Promise' and 'Ready Or Not Here I Come', which ushered in the era of the classic Sound Of Philadelphia and introduced the world to the genius of songwriter-arranger Thom Bell.

All of those tracks are featured here, alongside other Delfonics Top 20 hits 'I'm Sorry' and 'You Got Yours And I'll Get Mine' (a bonus track, not included on either of these two original albums).

Top-notch mastering from the original Philly Groove/Bell production tapes, means that these great recordings now sound better than they ever did.

A must for all lovers of classic group soul of any era.

Since it's on Kent, the mastering will be good.

I used to test myself in how high I could take my falsetto to "Didn't I Blow Your Mind This Time" - great game.

[bigred]The Delfonics/Tell Me This Is A Dream[/bigred]

The third and fourth albums from the pioneering Philadelphia sweet soul trio feature almost as many hits between them as do the first two (recently paired for reissue on Kent 287).

With the collaborative genius of Thom Bell, the Delfonics laid down the ground rules for all of the sweet soul harmony acts that followed in their wake most notably the Moments, the Chi-Lites and the Stylistics (who also worked extensively with Bell). In doing so they created some of the finest records of their generation, several of which can be heard in this twofer.

Among the biggest hits featured here are the all time classic Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time), the oft-sampled Trying To Make A Fool Of Me, their last hit with Thom Bell Over And Over and their first without him Hey Love.

Other notable chart successes that enhance this set include one of the two hit versions of When You Get Right Down To It, Walk Right Up To The Sun and the title track of the second of the two albums featured here, Tell Me This Is A Dream.

These fantastic recordings were instrumental in helping to prepare the world for the massive success of 'The Philly Sound' in the 1970s. They still sound as great as they ever did and it's Kent's pleasure to bring them to UK CD, in their original format, for the first time ever.

2. Funny Feeling
3. When You Get Right Down To It

8. Over & Over

12. I'm A Man
13. Too Late
14. Love You Till I Die
15. Looking For A Girl
16. Walk Right Up To The Sun
