Esoteric Recordings are pleased to announce the release of a newly re-mastered and expanded edition of the 1987 album “Dry Land” by How We Live.

How We Live was formed in 1985 by vocalist and keyboard player Steve Hogarth and guitarist Colin Woore in 1985. Both musicians had previously been in the New Wave band The Europeans. Signing to the CBS imprint Portrait Records, “Dry Land” was the band’s sole album.

Issued in 1987, the album was a fine collection of melodic and imaginative rock music that, despite featuring some excellent songs, somehow failed to make any commercial headway. By 1988 a disillusioned Steve Hogarth was considering abandoning music when he was invited to replace Fish as vocalist in the Progressive Rock band Marillion, where he reached a wider audience. The song “Dry Land” would later be recorded by Marillion on their album “Holidays in Eden” and was also a Top 40 hit when released as a single.

“Dry Land” was reissued briefly on CD and is now sought after by Marillion collectors. This new expanded edition of “Dry Land” has been newly re-mastered from the original Portrait masters and includes the bonus tracks ‘English Summer’ and the 12-inch remix of ‘All the Time in the World’, both originally issued as 12-inch singles in 1987.

I have an earlier CD pressing of this album. Can't remember if it has bonus tracks but, according to the description above, probably not. There's nothing truly essential here but as a longtime Marillion and Hogarth fan it's great to hear his vocals from before he joined the band.

Linda, you might want to change the name of this thread to include Hogarth's name, in case some Marillion fans here are unaware of this album.

The previous reissue of Dry Land on Marillion's Racket Records label included "You Don't Need Anyone" (later reworked by Marillion themselves circa the Holidays In Eden sessions) and outtake "Simon's Car" as bonus tracks.

Completists will need to pick up the new reissue as well... I'll be happy to have the two proper HWL b-sides finally available on CD!
