• This is Kent’s first compilation taken from the legendary LA Northern Soul label and has the superior sound and packaging that Kent are famous for.

• Includes a recently discovered Bobby Garrett vocal version of the Olympics’ ‘Exclusively Mine’. Unearthed from the freshly acquired master tapes and with a different set of lyrics too; amazing!

• There are several other tracks that weren’t on the previous Mirwood release (not on Kent and now deleted) and unusually they are some of the more obvious box office numbers: Jackie Lee ‘Oh My Darlin’’, Curtis Lee ‘Is She In Your Town’.

• Many tracks are from master tape for the first time on CD and the booklet contains a great deal of new information and an in-depth history of the label.

• Bobby Garrett’s ‘I Can’t Get Away’, as featured in a recent KFC TV advertisement, appears on a Kent CD for the first time.

• Also features the The Olympics’ track ‘I’ll Do A Little Bit More’, as sampled by Fat Boy Slim on ‘Soul Surfin’ from the album "You’ve Come A Long Way Baby".

• Kent’s follow-up volume to the well-received "Mirwood Story" (CDKEND 237) upholds the high quality of its predecessor, with more sublime Northern Soul dance favourites from one of the most famous uptempo, uptown soul labels ever.

• Like the previous volume, it offers a potent mixture of the known, the semi-known and the previously unheard, including major US R&B hits from the Olympics and Jackie Lee, more girly group magic from Patrice Holloway’s Belles, the Darlettes and the Mirettes, and exceedingly good big ballads from Bobby Garrett, JW Alexander and Jimmy Conwell - whose ‘Second Hand Happiness’ is a big "low rider" classic out in East LA right now.

• Highlights among the proven Northern classics on show include Bobby Lee Timberlake’s vinyl rarity ‘You Hurt Me’, the Belles’ originally-unissued ‘Let Me Do It’ and ‘Cigarette Ashes’, the storming instrumental track to Jimmy "Richard Temple" Conwell’s ‘That Beatin’ Rhythm’ that broke the record price for a soul 45 in the mid 70s.

• A further highlight comes in the shape of the recently discovered and never-before-heard Jackie Lee crossover dancer ‘Trust Me’ – written by Bobby Womack, and also recorded by both Jackie De Shannon and Womack himself.
