2007 collection of extremely rare recordings from Tim and Neil Finn's first full-time band. Following some initial success, 1978 was the band's worst year - they lost their record deal, and had no manager but still practiced and wrote frenetically. The Arts Council of NZ rescued the struggling band with a grant which they used to book a studio in Luton, England (where they were 'stranded') and record an amazing array of tracks over five days. These recordings are now known as the legendary [title]Rootin' Tootin' Luton Tapes[/title]. Out of the 15 tracks here, nine are previously unreleased songs and the other six are long-deleted B-sides. This is a monumental release from one of the finest bands of the '70s and '80s! Rhino.

1. Miss Haps

10. Straight Talk

According to the all-knowing Wikipedia, there will be a two-disc version of this set available only through their fan club:

Guess I can cross the US version of Frenzy off my wish list!

Wow, so Rhino is still producing interesting discs. I kind of thought that after Rhino failed to release the Lemonheads 2xCD Shame About Ray and failed to release The Replacements back catalogue, that they'd become just a best-of label.

This actually turned out to be a Rhino Australia release, not issued in other countries. I've added the cover art and tracklisting for the 1-CD commercial version to the first post.
