'LOST' HENDRIX ALBUM DISCOVERED

Movie & Entertainment News provided by World Entertainment News Network (http://www.wenn.com)
2008-07-07 20:30:17 -

A lost album JIMI HENDRIX recorded with rocker STEPHEN STILLS has been discovered more than 30 years after it was recorded.
Stills recently found the recording among a stack of material he taped during the 1970s, and his Crosby, Stills and Nash bandmate Graham Nash is helping him prepare it for release.
Nash tells the Las Vegas Sun, "He has an enormous history of recording. In the '70s, he was a recording fool. He just found a bloody album he made with (Jimi) Hendrix.
"'Oh yeah, I forgot that.' We've got to listen to that... I want to listen to every track he ever recorded in case he recorded with Al Jolson."

Too much purple perfume. How do you forget whole albums you've recorded?

I've known about this since last year. My big worry was that Janie Hendrix was going to somehow get her lawyers involved to stop it so that she could end up putting it out herself. I just want the thing to get released. I'm absolutely dying to hear this-especially the version of "Love The One You're With" with Jimi doing a guitar lead solo.
Federico, trust me my good friend. I'll pass out when I get knocked out listening to it. It just sounds like such a marvelous pairing.

Does anyone know what other players are on this recording?

I can't recall if it was me who reported it or not, but somebody put news of this up here about a year ago. I recall it being bantered about towards the end of a year. It was either last year or at the end of '06.

JIMI HENDRIX, STEPHEN STILLS Album Confirmed
Posted on Wednesday, July 09, 2008 at 08:14:12 EST

According to Michael Leonard from Musicradar.com, John McDermott, one of the archivists and overseers of JIMI HENDRIX' recordings, has confirmed that an album of tracks featuring STEPHEN STILLS and Hendrix is being readied for release.

McDermott confirmed to MusicRadar: "Stephen has been working with Experience Hendrix to compile an album's worth of sessions recorded with Jimi Hendrix during 1969 and 1970." McDermott says he is acting as a co-producer on the collection, but no further details are being released yet.

Previous sessions involving the two guitarists have emerged before – notably the Stills' Basement bootlegs - but the authenticity of some of those tracks has been questioned. One track featuring Hendrix on guitar, from 1970 - Old Times, Good Times – appeared on Stills' self-titled debut album of the same year, but it seems there is much more.

The most controversial track the two recorded together is called 'White Nigger' – many versions of this song (originally recorded with Stills singing and Hendrix on guitar) have surfaced before, but there is dispute as to whether these existing bootlegs actually feature Hendrix or are later versions recorded by Stills in 1973 with a different guitarist.

A source close to the project told MusicRadar: "We have tapes in our archive - Jimi on guitar and bass - plus Stephen had some from his 1970 solo album that he wanted to finish, fix and mix. From a musical point of view, it's definitely Stephen with Jimi helping - as opposed to a joint collaboration. But it is still a very nice project."

I guess there has been agreeable negotiations going on between Stills and EH. This is good to read about. If they can combine what Stills has found with the EH material, we may have the makings of something very special indeed.

I'm not gonna get too excited about this. If it were worth a crap, we would have heard it years ago. Probably drunken jamming and poor sound quality.

The comment that Stills is mixing tapes is a potentially positive sign regarding sound quality.

I'd buy this. Anything with Jimi Hendrix on it is okay with me.
