A deluxe reissue of this is surprising, seeing that it was considered a flop at the time of it's release. I thought it was a pretty lame album.

Very little on this album was any good, but "Laying Down The Law" was a great tune and a #1 radio hit even if it was a Bad Company clone. "Miss You In A Heartbeat" later became a hit for Def Leppard and was written by Phil Collen as well. But, most of this album sucked and it deserved to bomb-just watered-down AOR with a bunch of session hacks and big name guests.
A second album was recorded but was never released in 1992, thought something from that might end up on here. Also, how was this a "smash" when it peaked at #126???

Agreed. My guess is they figure they can capitalize on Rodgers' expanded public profile from the Queen collaboration, but in that case I would have expected to see this as an import rather than a domestic release.

or re-issue "the firm" CD's, but this one was a real stinker.

They should reissue The Firm cd's . The Law did get quite alot of airplay on Long Island when it came out but there ain't no way I would rush to get it . It would be one of those rainy day purchases for me , when I have a few bucks to burn and I can't find anything else to buy.

Unless I'm wrong, this is the second remastered edition of this title! I bought a One Way "Remastered Edition" (no bonus track) of this in 2002.

At least three issues of this and still no Beatles remasters.

My guess would be that any reissue of The Firm would have to be with Jimmy Page's blessing (and perhaps even participation in the remastering process), but I've never heard that he's been particularly interested in revisiting that part of his career.

I had read a while back that Jimmy was thinking about remastering both Firm albums and his solo efforts ("Death Wish 2" and "Outrider") but either he never bothered, there was a lack of interest or both.
The first Firm album was very muddy sounding but the second one was pretty good and featured some very good playing by Jimmy. He played a number of Firm songs on his '88 tour so he must have some good feelings about that material, just probably not enough to go to any trouble. I'd like to see those CDs remastered though but I'm not coutning on it.

Got to see The Firm for the Mean Business tour. Good show.

Has the Death Wish II soundtrack ever been issued on CD? If that ever comes out, I think I'll do a Jimmy Page compilation with solo/Firm/ & Page & Plant stuff. The soundtrack was available forever in the cutout bins back in the '80s but I never picked it up.

Dr. Evil/CBK:
I also saw The Firm in '86 and they were damn good. I also have a radio concert from Cleveland,OH on that tour I need to take from cassette to CD that was also good.
I think The Firm were so good on that 2nd tour because now they had 2 albums of material and "Mean Business" had some songs I still listen to to this day like "All The King's Horses", "Live In Peace", "Spirit Of Love" and "Tear Down The Walls". "Fortune Hunter" was a cool tune too-I think they opened with that one.
I've heard a demo of that song that XYZ did in 1981 (XYZ was Chris Squire/Alan White and Jimmy Page as you know-Robert Plant was involved early on, but left syaing it wasn't 80's enough whatever that means), and that demo definitely had what was to become "Fortune Hunter" on it. I downloaded all of that demo from the days of Napster and now I don't have it and can't remember much about it. Another could've been supergroup.
I have very fond memories of that show in Philly in '86-I also remember Virginia Wolf opened up-a horrid AOR band with Jason Bonham on drums. The show was at The Spectrum and was sold out-17,000. Philly has always supported anything and everything involving any of Zep.
As for "Death Wish II"-good question. I have no idea if that was ever issued on CD-it has some good stuff and Jimmy using a guitar snyth for the first time. "Who's To Blame" was a great song-I remember him playing that on the Outrider tour and in '83 on the Arms tour.
For your comp don't forget Coverdale/Page a very underrated experiment with some of the best playing by Jimmy since the Zep breakup in 1980!

I knew I was omitting something. Thanks, IP.

I have a Japanese import CD of the soundtrack but I don't think it was ever released in the US.
