2008 UK 15-track CD album - These recordings were made between 1965-66 for the BBC's flagship pop programme, Saturday Club. Across five sessions, Marianne performs with both the Mike Leander Orchestra, replicating those delicate, baroque arrangements, and with her regular guitarist Jon Mark, combining both Marianne's fragile pop and more folksy material, all of which are are interspersed with interviews as Brian Mathew quizzes Marianne on her life and ambitions; complete with a picture booklet containing exceptionally rare photos of Marianne from these years.Saturday Club Date: 13/05/1965 TX date: 03/04/19651. I bought this and really enjoyed it. All the songs are fine performances. It's nice just hearing an acoustic guitar version of Yesterday w/o the orchestration of her studio recording - nice guitar playing on it. The folky Last Thing On My Mind is nice contrast after hearing the great Move version of the song. The small interviews are cute - she has a baby between tracks 9 & 10 - talks about wanting to cut back on everything (which didn't happen).
A few downsides - 1. DJ talkover the beginning of most tracks. 2. Most likely incomplete....the disc is only 41 minutes...and the DJ introduces track 13 as being her 3rd Rolling stones song of the night.
I still think it's worth buying if you like her. The booklet has some nice pictures too.
