Info and rumors are circulating that a 2CD set of Jethro Tull's album This Was is due April 28.
Supposedly it's a deluxe 2 cd edition of the album is due in stereo and mono, with extra tracks...possible single mixes or other unissued tracks.
Also to include 9 BBC tracks from July and November of 68.
EMI may be putting this out as a "Deluxe Edition" type package.

I would love to see this released but still looking for official confirmation to come...

(Brought Steve's details for the album up to the first post, changed subject line to reflect domestic release date. ~ Linda)

Hmmmm. I'd have to see what's on it before I get too excited.
One of my favorite Tull songs came off a "some left-over stuff" CD.

The Tull remasters were awesome-one of the very best remasters series ever IMO, but I'm not too keen on 2 CD sets. Still, ironically, "This Was" was the only remaster I didn't get around to buying, so I guess I'll get this, but there were plenty of rarities before, so what more could there be other than alternate takes and BBC sessions?
And, when will they do a proper remaster of "Aqualung" for God's sake? The last one was utter crap.

If you want a quality "Aqualung",seek out the DCC 24kt.Gold CD.It's the only CD taken from the original master tapes(supplied by Ian Anderson)

Why do I get the impression this will be a UK-only release? (A Monday release date doesn't help.)

These days, almost no archival product by British artists gets U.S.A. release. This is certainly true for EMI & Universal, and this forces American fans to pay through the nose with an unfavorable currency exchange rate.

Unfortunately it sells for a "king's ransom" these days but it does sound very nice. All other versions I have heard on CD are brutal.

It was a happy surprise that I sold an unsealed (but mint) one on Ebay recently for $391.00!

Holy cow is right...for that kind of money, maybe I should sell mine! For some reason I've never noticed the huge difference that many of you hear between the DCC and the 25th Anniversary edition. Time for me to sit down and A-B them again.

The 25th Anniversary edition(while it does contain some fine bonus tracks) takes the album from a copy tape held by EMI,and uses a deadening amount of noise reduction. The DCC Gold is from the original master tape, supplied by Ian Anderson.

True, the 25th version is horrible. First time I put it on, I had to hold my ears. The DCC has that patented Hoffman sound. Nice. It is one of the prizes of my collection.

I wish I had better hearing and could appreciate a gold Tull disc.
It sucks to be only able to hear with one ear.

I wonder why "Aeroplane"(B-side of "Sunshine Day") is omitted. At least "Aeroplane" has a lead vocal by Ian Anderson."Sunshine Day" has lead vocals by Mick Abrahams, and "Distant,if any, background vocals" by Ian Anderson.(that quote is from Anderson himself!!!)

Man, it's a shame I could care less about the second disc. I think I'll just get the original remaster since that's the only one I'm missing. This looks nice though, especially if you're into the different mixes, but the second disc is just a waste for me personally.

Strange how several b-sides are missing

It's reasons like these downloads have become so popular. One can simply get the tracks they want such as the mono mix (torrent etc) and make their own This Was Tull Cd.

Real shame the record companies have no idea what we want.

The Blind Faith Deluxe Edition is also a good example. The Out-takes they didn't use are amazing. I'm lucky to have these tracks on a Blind Faith Boot.
