There are 14 tracks here not found on 1999's "Meet on the Ledge:the Classic Years ", so there's enough of a difference to make it attractive to Fairport collectors. Either collection well represents Fairport, and will serve as a good introduction to the band.
The Amazon USA price for "Gold" is way out of line. Amazon UK is reasonably priced, and also has the earlier collection available at better prices from a few of it's sellers.
I think that every Fairport album is available, the older ones having been remastered, so if you're not familiar with this great band and like what you hear you can go to town on all the rest of their stuff.

Shame Universal USA isn't picking this up; these Gold sets go as low as $6.66 with shipping on BMG club if you wait for their best deal. They tend to have pretty good sound also.
