For any folk-rock lovers of that era, these LPs are both highly recommended. I couldn't wait, though, and sprung for the Japanese cds some years back, so i doubt i'll buy them again.

There's one track which alone almost justifies purchasing the self-titled LP, "I Was the Rebel, She Was the Cause". It was featured on one of the old Warners Loss Leaders samplers, probably either "Record Show" or "the Big Ball". There are some other great songs there as well though.

"Avalanche" is just a fine fine LP overall.

IMHO some of Anderson's finest songs and performances grace these two albums.

I have a comp on Eric Anderson and enjoy it. Kind of forgotten singer-songwriter. These look very interesting.

For those new to Eric's music, my fav is Blue River, though most of his cd's are worthwhile.

Nice guy, also. Years ago (during my glam rock phase) I was at a club show he was doing.
He broke a string on his guitar & asked if anyone in the audience could change it for him while he played piano. I offered (the reason I mentioned my glam phase is I suspect I looked a bit out of place at a folk show in full make up!) & took care of it for him. After the show, he bought me & my girl friend drinks & we hung out for awhile.

Also saw a double bill of E.A. & Iain Matthews a few years later.
