From the Sparks web site http://www.allsparks.com/

Introducing Sparks is due to released, for the first time ever on CD, on 5th November 2007.

I think you'll agree that this is really exciting news and something to really look forward to.

(the above is from the web site, but I do agree this is exciting news)

Finally! This record gets slagged a lot but it's not their weakest... it's pretty L.A.-slick (and produced by Rupert Holmes!) but fun...

I first was exposed to them during this era of their long career (Columbia years) from the songs they performed in that bad 70s disaster movie "Rollercoaster"!

Introducing Sparks can now be preorded at the Sparks website http://www.allsparks.com with a choice of Ron Mael or Russell Mael covers. The cost is $20. It will be sent out the beginning of October, three weeks before the general release. Except for getting at their website or at Amazon I don't know where else you will be able to find it. It doesn't mention if there are any bonus tracks.

The general release versions appear to be import-only. No doubt Amazon's third party dealers will soon have prices that beat Sparks' own website, but in the meantime the general release versions are expensive ...

2007 reissue, the first time on CD for this long-lost album from Ron and Russell Mael, originally released on Epic in 1977. Although this was the duo's seventh album, they chose the ironic Introducing Sparks as the album's title due to their lack of success in their homeland. The nine track album includes 'Big Surprise', 'Goofing Off' and 'Over The Summer'. The album features two different sleeve designs: The 'Ron' cover image and the 'Russell' cover image. Both CD's have the same tracklisting.

1. Big Surprise
2. Occupation
3. Ladies
4. I'm Not
5. Forever Young
6. Goofing Off
7. Girls On The Brain
8. Over The Summer
9. Those Mysteries

I wish Sparks were appreciated here at home as much as they are in England. :(

Sparks set for record residency

Sparks are rumoured to be playing a record breaking 21-night residency in London.

It's reported that the band will play 21 nights at the Islington Academy the north of the city.

The band are expected to play a different one of their 21 albums each night of the '21 Albums, 21 Shows' residency in May.

There's a report on the Hoffman site that this Introducing Sparks CD is a needledrop. That'd be disappointing. Can anyone confirm?

My LP copy is pressed on nifty red vinyl.

My copy sounds like it's from vinyl, so I'm happy I didn't pay a particularly high price.

I've passed on the CD since I still have the red vinyl LP but I did download the MP3s that were put up on eMusic a couple weeks ago...haven't listned closely but I assume they are also from the vinyl...
