I know this was mentioned somewhere on here when it came out in Europe, but I couldn't find it! Anyway, this is due out here in the US and features the same interesting track listing which also features some rarities. Tony Banks rearranged the tracks listing himself and all tracks are the new remasters/remixes. Due to all of this, if it's on sale I'll buy it even though I have everything-it's a good comp and if my friend at Rhino can't hook me up, I'll still get it. Info (w/comments from a fan site): Tracks on CD1: Turn It On Again No Son Of Mine I Can't Dance Hold On My Heart Jesus He Knows Me Tell Me Why Invisible Touch Land Of Confusion Tonight Tonight Tonight In Too Deep Throwing It All Away Mama That's All Illegal Alien Abacab No Reply At All The Carpet Crawlers 1999 Tracks on CD2: Paperlate Keep It Dark Man On The Corner Duchess Misunderstanding Follow You Follow Me Many Too Many Your Own Special Way Afterglow Pigeons Inside And Out A Trick Of The Tail The Knife (part 1) Counting Out Time I Know What I Like Happy The Man Congo It may not look like - but these tracks and the running order are the final version. The tracklist was rearranged by Tony Banks himself! Nick Davis confirmed in a post in the official Forums that ALL songs will be the new stereo-mixes. The only exception is The Carpet Crawlers 1999 - Also, the edits on this HITS collection were reproduced on the basis of the new stereo-mixes! This 2CD version will only be available until the end of this year!

Not bad, but where's "Taking It All Too Hard" (#50) & "Never A Time" (#21)?

To be honest, if these had to go and songs like "Happy The Man", "Inside & Out" and "Pigeons" got on there I'm fine with that, but I agree these hits should've made it on there.

I wish Squonk could have found it's way on here. I'm still baffled it's not on the Platinum Collection, either.
BTW: I like the remixes, also, despite the ney-sayers elsewhere.

GENESIS TURN IT ON AGAIN WITH HITS AND TOUR
Two-CD Collection Celebrates the Historic World Tour Reuniting Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford, and Tony Banks for the First Time in 15 Years and Features Collins-Era Classics As Well As Gabriel-Era Songs Performed on the Current Tour
Turn It On Again (Tour Edition) Will Be Available September 11 from Rhino
Trio Will Launch 20-Date North American Tour September 7
August 22 2007
LOS ANGELES --
This special new double-disc compilation celebrates Genesis' historic 2007 World Tour, reuniting the supergroup's power trio incarnation of Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks onstage for the first time in fifteen years. That compact and legendary Genesis line-up - featuring Collins on lead vocals and drums, Rutherford on guitar and Banks on keyboards - fueled the band through its most successful era, and their mighty sound shines on 34 essential studio classics.
While the spotlight is primarily on hits and favorites from their Collins-fronted heyday, first Genesis lead vocalist Peter Gabriel is heard on the original recordings of several early classics that are featured in the '07 tour. Totaling over 2-1/2 hours of remastered music, TURN IT ON AGAIN (TOUR EDITION) is a sonically sterling, decades-spanning portrait of an iconic band delivering many of their greatest tracks.
While he'd been Genesis' drummer since 1970, Phil Collins first assumed the mantle of official lead singer - following Peter Gabriel's 1975 departure to launch a solo career - on 1976's A Trick Of The Tail, their best charting LP to date. Harking back to the group's prog-rock origins, the album is represented here with the title track. The 1977 follow-up, Wind & Wuthering, delivered the charting single “Your Own Special Way,” included along with the album track “Afterglow.”
The triumvirate of Collins, Rutherford and Banks that forms the core of the '07 tour made its debut on 1978's appropriately titled And Then There Were Three - their first gold album - which spun off their first bonafide pop hit “Follow You Follow Me.” Also featured from that landmark LP is “Many Too Many.”
Collins-fronted Genesis went on to global superstardom on the airwaves and as an arena rock staple, and delivered classic albums including Duke, Abacab, Genesis, Invisible Touch, We Can't Dance and the EP 3X3, all of which are sampled from - along with other sources - for this special retrospective.
In addition to the signature song “Turn It On Again” that adorns the compilation's title, among the other Collins-era treasures are the 1986 #1 Billboard®pop smash “Invisible Touch,” the Top 5 hits “In Too Deep,” “Tonight, Tonight, Tonight,” “Land Of Confusion” and “Throwing It All Away,” plus the Top 40 singles “No Reply At All,” “Paperlate” and “Abacab.”
Early-era Genesis tracks featuring Peter Gabriel include “Happy The Man,” “The Knife (Part 1),” “Counting Out Time” and “I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)” (the latter an in-concert favorite for Collins in the decades since Gabriel's exit).
In 2006 - the band's 40th anniversary - Rhino launched what will eventually be a complete upgrade of Genesis' entire catalog. The restoration began with 2-disc CD/DVD editions of five album classics from the Phil Collins era: A Trick Of The Tail, Wind & Wuthering, And Then There Were Three, Duke and Abacab. Available as well from Rhino is a 12-disc boxed - Genesis: 1976-1982 - that also features the rarities collection Extra Tracks, only available as part of the box.
In November Rhino Records will debut the second in the series of box sets with Genesis: 1983-1998. This 5-CD/5-DVD boxed set encompasses four studio albums recorded between 1983 and 1998, plus a bonus disc offered exclusively with this collection that will also feature B-sides and rarities.

This is 34 tracks over two discs, with the second disc being the new addition. • This is *supposedly* also a limited-edition 2CD set, with the Genesis site stating this will only be available until the end of this year. • The Knife (Pt.1) is the single version -- this may be the first official release of "The Knife" in this form since the UK 7" from many many years ago.
Wal-Mart's price on this Genesis two-disc set is $9.72. Quite a deal!

I'm boycotting Walmart due to the pet food poisoning & WM's total disregard of common sense & caring in the situation. Wish a few others here would do the same. No more Eagles new releases for me unless they're on the internet.

I refused to pay $16.99 at Best Buy for these remixes, but $9.72? Sure! It's mine!
Uh... I don't like the way they sound. "No Reply At All" now sounds like it's in an echo chamber. The drums throughout sound like they've been muted too much. I see they tried to cover that tape glitch in the single edit of "Abacab" with some trickery, but it still sounds bad.

I heard an odd story on This American Life a couple weeks back. It seems Phil Collins was the favorite singer of a woman and her beau. It began as kind of an ironic thing, but they ended making him "their" guy. When he broke it off, she actually said to him, "How can you just turn and walk away?" (or whatever the line in the song is). So she decides as part of her therapy (and to do a bit for her radio show) she's going to write a break up song, even though she's never written a song before. So decides to call Phil Collins for advice. A guy she knows is doing the video for the Genesis tour and he hooks them up. Phil is very genuine and natural with her, not star tripping at all, comisserating with her as he's had a break up recently too. It was funny and touching. It makes me wish I liked his music better. Maybe I'll get this album, kind of an ironic thing.

I took my $9.97 cds and put them into my cars CD changer. Now I can listen to Genesis in the car a full week before the concerts.
