>> 2007 release of a 2CD set that perfectly captures the two distinct phases of Steve Miller's career. Disc 1 was recorded just after the release of "The Joker" in 1973 and strongly echoes the blues roots of the Steve Miller Band. Disc 2 was recorded in 1976 and showcases a band who had evolved into a commercial powerhouse, able to challenge The Eagles and Fleetwood Mac as one of the biggest names in rock. <<

This seemed familiar somehow, it appears to be an import release of the 2002 domestic Steve Miller "King Biscuit" double cd. Great stuff, in any case, although the U.S. release does at least have a Miller photo on the cover.

This is pure speculation, but I predict he'll probably do some sort of "come back" album. I can't see him going the unplugged or orchestrated route, but I could well imagine him doing a Santana "Supernatural"-type album with a lot of superstar friends (both his generation and some younger folks) guest starring. Whether this would be a good album is anyone's guess...

He filmed a concert in Chicago just this year that I believe is coming out this fall. He's also stated that he's recording a CD of acoustic versions of his past hits.

I spoke too soon! Well, if he's going to revisit some old hits I hope he at least picks things from throughout his career and not just the two albums that everyone has.
