There is not one song listed there that does not conjure a palpable memory of my youth.

I must own this.

It's not a bad compilation for someone who doesn't have the stuff already, but there aren't any rarities here either. I already have all of this, so unless there's something very unique about individual versions, I won't be indulging.

Seems to me like Shout! Factory is reissuing scaled-down versions of Rhino box sets (or series) that have gone OOP. Good that they're keeping this stuff out there, but like Walter, I've got every track already, more than once in many cases. Same with Shout's recent British Invasion box.

In fact, I bought a new Shout box set covering the old Vee-Jay label (early promo). I have to compare the track list with the Vee-Jay box that Rhino Handmade distributed awhile back.

You and Jimbo are probably right, this is not really a specialist's box. But after you posted, I counted and I only have 8 of these songs on cd.

I must be collecting in a different direction.

The box might have sold better if they had supplemented Rhino's Have a Nice Day series instead of choosing the obvious chart hits.

So, I take it then that the Have A Nice Day & Didn't It Blow Your Mind series from Rhino are now considered both to be officially out of print?

The "Have A Nice Day" titles seem to be much easier to find than the "Didn't It Blow Your MInd" titles, some of which are pretty expensive. Both series are excellent and deserve not only a reissue campaign, but also expanding.

I heard they sourced this from Jimbo's CD collection.

I dunno. I haven't been impressed by the remastered sound quality of Shout! Factory's reissues, especially that Slade compilation. That sounded absolutely awful.

Shout's Vee-Jay box is being released on Tuesday, I posted the tracklist in that thread.
