First time on CD for this 1983 release from the singer/songwriter and pianist who had a successful career as a studio musician before releasing the massive hit single 'Maniac' (from the soundtrack to Flashdance). The album fell inside of the Top 100 on four separate Billboard charts: Black Albums, Pop Albums (reached # 80), The Billboard Top 200 and Top R&B Albums.

This reissue is good news for Top 40 collectors. "Automatic Man" was the follow-up to "Maniac" and peaked at #34. It's been totally impossible to find on CD, never included on any 80s comp, AFAIK. (Although there may have been a Japanese CD of this album years ago--Kym would know for sure.)

Am I allowed to be frightened by that cover art? Because I am. That is one hotel I'd never check into! Wouldn't be surprised if Mr.Sembello currently works there.

Ha ha! Yes, this was on CD only in Japan for a brief time.

That album cover is rife with subtext, isn't it? I'd still check into that hotel anyway. :wink:
