Yet another re-issue of Floyd !

According to Pink Floyd's manager Paul Loasby, there will be a Pink Floyd box set released in November 2007. There is currently no date set for its release as it is still in discussion.

According to Paul, " all of the studio albums reproduced as CDs but as per the vinyl artwork". He also confirmed that all the CDs will be contained within a Storm Thorgerson designed box!

In an interview last year, Storm revealed that the box set would be called "The Boy, The Man" although that has not been confirmed to NPF yet by Pink Floyd's manager.

Storm Thorgerson has designed many of Pink Floyd's album covers including Dark Side of the Moon, PULSE and the booklet for the 40th Anniversary Edition of Piper At The Gates of Dawn.

I might actually consider buying this one if they are faithful to the original LP artwork. Maybe. I wonder if they'll flesh it out with any of those hard to find vinyl-only tracks on the later Waters-less releases. And any of the other oddities throughout the years.

The Shine On box from the '90s has been out of print for a long time now, so I guess something like this should be out there. I second JohnG's wish for some DTS 5.1 Floyd, preferably on DVD or DVD-A, as I don't have an SACD player.

Does anybody else find it weird that Pink Floyd has a manager?? How can you manage a group that doesn't exist anymore?? I know Steve O' Rourke was probably overseeing the catalogue stuff in concert with the group members, but he passed away a while back.

I'm guessing that this Paul Loasby is Gilmour's manager and therefore, represents the interests of Floyd.

Not to put too fine a point on it...but...the box will be released in November even though there is no date set for its release? Huh?

On second thought, that reads almost like a Pink Floyd lyric.

Have looked through quite a few Floyd sites, no other site mentions box set. Has any one heard anything?

Wow-very cool news Linda, thanks! I have to say, despite the age, the previous Floyd remasters were excellent, but I'm always up for more (except the album "More"-I don't like that one at all)!
I hope there are bonus tracks, but I don't actually expect them on these.

From Brain Damage: (click on the link to see photos)

It's with pleasure that we are finally able to bring you some proper news on the much-speculated on, upcoming "Pink Floyd Mini-Vinyl Studio Box Set"!

The set has been rumoured for some time, and various sites have posted information on it with varying degrees of accuracy, but we've just been given the official "nod" to reveal certain details to you of what will surely be on many peoples' Christmas present lists, including the confirmed release date and ordering details.

With not just the studio albums inside Storm Thorgerson's specially designed box (click the thumbnail on the left to peek inside) even those who have the entire back catalogue with find something of interest...

The main meat of the box set, is the entire Pink Floyd studio album catalogue packaged as mini-vinyl reproductions all in one CD box set - much like the highly limited Japanese album replicas from a few years ago which now command high amounts on eBay!

Pink Floyd Mini-Vinyl Studio Box SetYou'll get: The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn / A Saucerful Of Secrets / More / Ummagumma (2CD) / Atom Heart Mother / Meddle / Obscured By Clouds / The Dark Side Of The Moon / Wish You Were Here / Animals / The Wall (2CD) / The Final Cut / A Momentary Lapse Of Reason / The Division Bell.

Each CD is a faithful reproduction of the original vinyl using original artwork, all the original inserts (posters, stickers, and such like) and LP-style dust jackets. We also understand that there will be an 20" x 30" high quality poster included.

In addition, there will be a DVD in the box, which looks to feature the individual members of the band discussing the 40th anniversary and landmarks in their career. There may be some musical content also in the DVD, but like the box set as a whole, some details of the DVD are still to be decided on, and an official announcement should be made soon once every element of the box set is cast in stone.

Finally, that all important release date. The band's manager told us last night that this is currently looking to be December 3rd with the normal variations around the world - for example, the USA is December 4th.

The perfect way to fill all those gaps in your collection, or for those who are yet to get the majority of the studio albums. With the DVD, and the very special presentation of the set, this collection (which we hear is limited to 10,000 worldwide) should sell quickly.

Yeah, I'd love to see "Scream Thy Last Scream" and "Vegetable Man" as bonus tracks on the set, but I doubt that'll happen!

Nothing here about the individual releases, but as they're hyping the boxset I guess that makes sense. I have little interest in the DVD, so hopefully these will indeed come out on their own and in jewel cases-I dislike the mini-vinyl replicas, so we'll see I guess.

really...what could Doug Sax POSSIBLY eek out of those masters now that he couldn't in 1992, 1994, 1997, and in a couple of cases 2003 and 2007?

I have most of the key Pink Floyd albums in the Japanese mini-lp form already.

So I'm not really sure if this is a must buy.

Again if they were offering hi-rez SACD or surround mixes, then I'd bite.

>> Pink Floyd celebrate 40th anniversary with box set

Pink Floyd have revealed full details of their 40th anniversary box set, now titled 'Oh By The Way'.

As previously reported, the box set will contain all of the band's studio albums, although it is now known that each CD will be housed in a mini faux-vinyl sleeve.

The original extras will also be included, but in miniature form, specially reworked by long-term designer Storm Thorgerson.

For example, 'The Dark Side Of The Moon' now comes with two posters and two stickers, while its follow-up, 'Wish You Were Here', comes with an exclusive postcard.

The artist has also designed a deluxe box to contain the CDs.

The albums and their extras included are as follows:

'The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn' (1967, single wallet)
'A Saucerful Of Secrets' (1968, single wallet)
'Music From The Film More' (1969, single wallet)
'Ummagumma' (1969, gatefold wallet, 2 discs)
'Atom Heart Mother' (1970, gatefold)
'Meddle' (1971, gatefold)
'Obscured By Clouds' (1972, single wallet with rounded corners)
'The Dark Side Of The Moon' (1973, gatefold wallet with 2 posters and 2 stickers)
'Wish You Were Here' (1975, single with liner, postcard and black shrinkwrap)
'Animals' (1977, gatefold)
'The Wall' (1979, gatefold, 2 discs)
'The Final Cut' (1983, single wallet)
'A Momentary Lapse Of Reason' (1987, gatefold)
'The Division Bell' (1994, gatefold) <<
