Too bad they didn't release this on a Hybrid SACD or with a bonus DVD-A so that you could actually HEAR the the discrete Quad Mix on a 5.1 system like the import Moody Blues remasters.Since HIP-O Select considers itself a "boutique" imprint, they dropped the ball on this one.I have the remastered Deep Purple "Machine Head" release that has a couple of "Quad Mixes" as bonus cuts but they are mixed down to stereo.Pointless.

I think it's first time on CD, I've never seen that cover before. The pin would be nice to get, but I know I won't be among the first 500. Besides, I would probably never wear it for fear of losing it.

Indeed, Hip-O Select drooped the ball with this deluxe release of Diana Ross' "Last Time I Saw Him". First off, this isn't one of her best known albums (only hitting #52 on the Billboard pop charts). Second, since they've chosen to issue the quad mixes of the LP they should've issued this as an SACD/Hybird disc so that those of us who have 5.1 systems can hear the quad mixes at their best. Finally, what ever happend to the Motown 'Lost And Found' series? It's been two years since the release of the Four Tops & Martha Reeves & The Vandellas sets and there's a lot more rare & unreleased tracks from Motown's golden era that fans are waiting to hear (in fact, they really need to do one for The Supremes' '60s R&B recordings that are still in the vaults) .

Perhaps this isn't what it could have been, but I typically really enjoy the Hip-O Select packages, so I took the plunge. For the most part, I give them high marks for presentation and I usually really enjoy their releases like this.

I understand some folks' disappointment with the quad tracks, but I'm still looking forward to hearing the 10 unreleased bonus tracks plus reading the notes in what certainly should be another wonderfully-packaged and annotated booklet. Let's give the fine folks at Hip-O Select some credit, here! (I don't have any audiophile equipment, but as takes often varied for quad mixes, there's often something different for us to hear & appreciate in an artist's interpretation, the instrumentation, etc. etc.) At least they're getting this much-desired material out and available to us in physical CD form. I'm placing my order now!

Guess I wish they would have combined the "Touch Me In The Morning" and "Last Time I Saw Him" albums into one package, since they seemed to be similar in producers, etc. At any rate, I am thrilled that Hip-o Select continues to put out "real" CDs with "real" packaging, so I will support them by buying their releases by any of the artists that interest me! Still waiting for the 70's Supremes Volume 2, though...
