(This is sure to THRILL Renny. ) UK 2007 revamped version of this Who compilation released to coincide with their 2007 European tour and headlining slot at the Glastonbury Festival. As well as featuring the band’s best known songs such as ‘My Generation’, ‘I Can’t Explain’, ‘Won’t Get Fooled Again’ and ‘Pinball Wizard’, the new version now includes ‘Baba O’Riley’ completing the triumvirate of CSI/CSI: New York/CSI: Miami theme songs featured on the CD. Also featured is ‘It’s Not Enough’ a stand out track from the band’s most recent album Endless Wire, which was their first new studio album in more than two decades. (This updated version drops 'Old Red Wine' and the live version of 'Summertime Blues' to make room for the two additions mentioned above). Polydor.1. I Can't Explain (Original Mono Version) 2. My Generation (Original Mono Version) 3. Kids Are Alright (Edit Mono Version) 4. Substitute (Single Version) 5. I'm A Boy (Original Stereo Version) 6. Happy Jack (Single Version) 7. I Can See For Miles 8. Magic Bus (Original Stereo Version) 9. Pinball Wizard (Original Album Version) 10. See Me, Feel Me (Single Version) 11. Baba O'riley (Original Version) 12. I never bought this comp in the first place, but this "new" version does get me to thinking....
Hmmm, do I buy the old version in the hopes that maybe it will become a "collector's item?" Or do I buy the new version for the added track?? Or maybe I should wait another six months for the combo CD/DVD audio, or maybe--

The only Who CD I've ever bought twice is My Generation, because there are two different versions out there IIRC.

goog,
no added track, 2 removed, 2 different ones put on, nothing extra, nothing new, just different.
you really wouldn't expect pete townshend ot the who to actually give you something extra now, would you?

Renny, I continue to find it odd that you single out Pete Townshend as being the biggest gouger in the reissue game, especially as it concerns releases by the Who, a band which he has only a quarter stake.

You're right--Neither Pete Townshend nor the Who have EVER reissued ANYTHING within the past 10-15 years or so containing previously unreleased bonus material.

I'm waiting for The Who to do a "Then & Now" UK farewell tour to coincide with the release. Just like the Tommy and Quadrophenea farewell tours that followed the original two farewell tours of the 1980's. They seem to need to create an illusion that you'll never see or hear from them again, before they pull out the just kidding card. I love the Who and I always will, but I can't believe how they continue to screw their loyal fan base!

Maybe they can go on tour with Barbra Streisand.

I dont understand the idea of removing "Old Red Wine" (which I like) and replacing it with something old. Oh well, I have the first one so I dont have to bother with this!

Since the newest song on the album is from 2006, shouldn't the title be revised to "Then and Then"?
But seriously, it's a shame that they should drop Old Red Wine since this album is the only place to get that song. In my mind, it diminishes this collection, not enhances it.

don't worry, it be released again somewhere down the line as a bonus track on the tenth reissue of "who's next". they'll call it "the great lost song" or something like that.

Or they'll just release this (comp) again with "restored original track listing." Pete's mantra: "Reissue, rinse, repeat."
