Product Description
Long out of print and for the first time on one CD, Raven presents two classic albums by the highly regarded New York group STORIES – Stories (1972) and About Us (1973). Led by songwriters Michael Brown (who had already tasted fame with The Left Banke during the 1960s) and the golden-voiced Ian Lloyd, Stories brief but vibrant history is encapsulated in these two legendary records. The debut, Stories, combined the baroque intricacies of Brown’s former group, The Left Banke, with a contemporary rock aesthetic.

Their sound was still more pop than rock and comparisons with the Beatles, Badfinger and the Raspberries are inevitable. Includes the US Top 30 hit single ‘I’m Coming Home’. About Us is the band’s tour de force, full of masterful pop songs, straight ahead rock and classically inspired art-rock vignettes. It also contains their US #1 hit, ‘Brother Louie’, a ripping cover of the Hot Chocolate song. As a bonus we’ve added Stories rare, final single from 1974, ‘Another Love’, on CD for the first time. These recordings will appeal to fans of inventive and tuneful pop/rock melodies with power-pop influenced vocal harmonies and classical/baroque keyboard flourishes. With 77 minutes of superb quality audio, plus color booklet featuring detailed liner notes and period photos.

Stories:
1. Hello People
2. I’m Coming Home
3. Winter Scenes
4. Step Back
5. You Told Me
6. Saint James
7. Kathleen
8. Take Cover
9. Nice To Have You Here
10. High And Low

About Us:
11. Darling
12. Don’t Ever Let Me Down
13. Love Is In Motion
14. Hey France
15. Please, Please
16. Changes Have Begun
17. Circles
18. Believe Me
19. Words
20. Top Of The City
21. Down Time Blooze
22. What Comes After
23. Brother Louie

Bonus Track:
24. Another Love

This is really cool...thanks for the heads up.

When I see releases like this, it baffles me why so many other countries do a better job of getting reissues out than the US does. How many great reissues have you seen from either Japan, the UK, Germany or even France? Why is it so hard to get this stuff released domestically?

Now if only some label would reissue Ian Lloyd's 1979 solo album Goose Bumps, which included the almost-hit single "Slip Away." Written and produced by Ric Ocasek, with a bunch of other Cars chipping in. Very new-wavy, this song has never shown up on any CD that I know of.

The album was issued by Scotti Bros. Should be right up the alley of a label like American Beat, or maybe Wounded Bird.

Always dug the B-side to "Brother Louie" known as "What Comes After". That was a great 45. Very unusual sound for a pop song.
