For you folk in the J&R area, this is certainly good news, but I've had nothing but problems trying to do mail order with them. They regularly sell things that they don't actually have in stock online and I've found them to be slow and unreliable. Buyer beware!

I'm on vacation in Cocoa Beach and can't find these anywhere. Don't they have any cd stores in the South !?! So far, I've only found an FYE in the local mall that didn't order any copies--the guy didn't even seem to know who Warren Zevon was.

Don't these people know that I need my cds the second they come out?! Aaaaargh!

I've never heard his version of "Jeannie Needs A Shooter", I only know Springsteen's recording from the "Darkness..." session (bootleg...)

I called the local Newbury Comics today...they had "Envoy" & "Fire" for $8.99 and "Excitable Boy" for $12.88. They got in about half a dozen copies of the latter, but only one each of "Envoy" & "Fire". Thankfully, they were nice enough to hold them for me. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, but every time one of these reissues comes out that I consider fairly high profile, they're very hard to find. I must be getting old!

Our vendor is out of stock on them (I just checked).

I called Best Buy, said they would be in stock on Thursday (?)!

Not to rain on your parade, but when was the last time that anyone at a "Big Box" store actually knew what they were talking about? I'll hope for the best, for your sake, but I expect the worst.

...and the music industry is wondering why CD sales are down. Even though it's frustrating to people like us to go to stores to try to find this stuff, I suspect that the retailers don't have a lot of incentive to carry them either. After all, if they stocked multiple copies of every reissue, how many would they end up stuck with?

I'm not an expert on the industry...FAR from it...but I wonder if things like return policies and such come into play here. Are stores being motivated to only stock high-turnover new releases by factors like return policies? Is it something else?

This is why I order most reissues like this online. Even though I can't get them release day most of the time, at least I get them within a few days and without driving/calling all over to try to find them. There must be a better way.

I agree. I ordered the Zevon titles from CDUniverse. At least I know I'll have them on Friday.

I'll be heading down to J&R for Jimbo Lunch in a little while. I expect they'll have a few of each title in stock--a non-ICEr friend asked me to pick up Envoy and Fire for him. I'm lucky to still have some dependable brick & mortar stores to shop in for CDs.

Well, I finally found a copy of Excitable Boy at a Circuit City on Merritt Island (it sounds terrific by the way). Still no luck on The Envoy and Stand In The Fire. Looks like I'll have to wait until I get home.

J&R had plenty of copies of each, even had 'em on display on the New Releases wall. Excitable Boy was $12.99, the other 2 were $6.99 as advertised.

Mine are also on order at CDUniverse/IMWAN!

I've combined it with my previous Moody Blues order, so it will be delayed till 4/10.
