Has anyone seen the Al Stewart reissues from Collector's Choice at retail this week, either at the big box stores or your local independents? I can't find them anywhere-- not at Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, Borders or Barnes & Noble. Nor at one local indie place that usually carries this kind of stuff. Is ordering online the only way to get these?

Collectors Choice often offers new product (on their label) via its catalog (or website) before it hits the stores. The catalog and web site carries a lot of non CC label offerings as well.

While a LITTLE bit pricy at times, I've long admired them. l tried to partially model my business as a (much) smaller version of what they were doing 9 years ago when I opened.

CC had the exclusive window for several months, these titles were supposed to hit retail this week. I checked at J&R yesterday, and they had none of them.

Hey Geff,

What are your thoughts about the sonics of the 2 other CD incarnations of my Al favorite...MT, the Rhino version and the BGO version? I would also like to know what your thoughts are on the CC version, when you get it.

It does seem to be available all over including CD universe, ebay and Amazon. I am really glad to see the old cover back.Since it was producted by Alan Parsons, and since I clearly remember in 1975 that the sonic quality of the LP blew me away, I would love to see MT in Hi-Rez or surround. They just keep reissuing the same thing over and over (aside from the bonus tracks).

Hi Larbo, the only version I have at the moment is the BGO. I usually only keep 1 version of each title. Apparantly all 3 have different bonus tracks, though?

Hi Geff, the original Rhino is just the orginal LP lineup. The BGO and the new one have 3 but different bonus tracks. Both have Swallow Wind and the new one has 2 tracks from Seemed Like A GIATT.

I just want to hear the original track listing in as good a resolution and fidelity as possible. To hear Dark and the Rolling Sea in 5.1 would be an audible milestone for me. Having gotten Moody Blues in SACD was such a milestone.

I still own both the Rhino and BGO versions as I simply could not decide which I like better, though they are different sounding.

Lar

IF I remember correctly (big if!!) I think I went straight from the Arista LP to the BGO & Never checked out the Rhino. I will also be interested in feedback on the CC's.

Another week has gone by and still no sign of the Al Stewart reissues at retail (at least not in my area), at the big box stores or the indies. Anyone seeing these in your local music stores? Very poor distribution channel, apparently.
