"The Original One Hit Wonders Album" is a trawl through the EMI family of labels' one hit wonders in the '70s, '80s, and '90s. This 20-track CD is not for nostalgics, I only bought it for the electric boogie song "(Hey You) the Rocksteady Crew" by The Rocksteady Crew, which to my knowledge is only available here. But with a little judicious programming, you get a great 7-track mini-comp:

White Town - Your Woman
Chris Spedding - Motor Bikin'
The Knack - My Sharona
Althea and Donna - Uptown Top Ranking
The Rocksteady Crew - (Hey You) the Rocksteady Crew
Al Stewart - The Year of the Cat
Minnie Riperton - Lovin' You

Some of these one hit wonders recorded some pretty good albums as well, so this CD's main selling point is The Rocksteady Crew.

The CD is available from amazon.co.uk as part of their "3 for £10" special offer.

Is Al Stewart truly a "one-hit wonder"? "Time Passages" still gets played on adult contemporary/MOR/soft rock stations.

This being a UK release, the determination of "one-hit wonder" is different from what it would be in the US. Surprisingly, "Year of the Cat" was Al Stewart's only charting single in the UK, and even then only managed to climb to #31.

On the other hand, Chris Spedding, Althea and Donna, and the Rocksteady Crew never graced the US singles chart.
