Van Halen New Releases With Sammy Hagar Leak By Bishal Roy - Jan 26, 20230
Sammy Hagar recently revealed that ‘Van Hagar Remasters’ is on its way.
In celebration of the 28th anniversary of Van Halen’s Balance, Hagar posted the band’s performance of “Amsterdam” during their appearance on The Jon Stewart Show back in 1995. A very interesting comment Sammy Made was on the Van Hagar/ Other Half Instagram page where he posted the video for fans to view and comment.
One fan posted: “I wish this album along with OU812 and 5150 would get remastered: ”
Check out Sammy’s reply:
“All that is coming soon. They started with the live album. It’s coming out first and then they’re going to re-master everything.”
“Between Us Two” was originally recorded for Twister but then shelved and has never leaked. Some Van Halen fans have speculated that the song might have never been recorded, but Hagar told Kyle Meredith that it was a finished track.
Could it be used for the just-announced Twister sequel?
Hagar said, “I don’t know if I can resurrect it, but we got it; it’s done. It’s in the archives; they’ll find it. They’re looking through the archives right now to try to remaster some of the old stuff from my era. They’ll find it. That’s gonna be a treasure.”

I hope they do it right. Even if there's not much for bonus tracks, the remasters will be worth it. I love the Hagar era (and Roth). Balance kinda sucked.

I would be very interested if they put out hi-rez versions on SACD, or better yet, Blu-ray.
Absolutely zero interest in remasters on the CD format.
Chances are about one in a million that they would do a remaster that would sound better than the original version for 5150 or OU812. The originals of those are fantastic sounding CDs. Maybe they could upgrade For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge or Balance, but I'd put chances at better than 50/50 that a CD remaster would be a downgrade.
This is Van Halen we are talking about. This is Eddie Van Halen we are talking about, a guy that was chasing "the perfect guitar sound" until they day he died. It's not like Warner Bros released shit versions of the CDs to begin with. Especially 5150 and OU812, which IMO are pretty good examples or how good the CD format can sound if mastered correctly.
Other question is, are the Roth-era SACDs officially dead now after the MoFi "scandal" with the One-Step's? I've grown pretty tired of waiting for those.

I think 5150 and OU812 need remastering the most.
OU812 sounds very thin (that’s my favorite album from the Hagar era).
Lots of people have been negative online about how they will sound before anyone has heard a note.
The DLR era remasters from 2000 sounded great to me.
But then again, they don’t have to buy them and can listen to the original releases.
The 90s albums don’t really need remastering, but I’d still be interested and the live album could definitely use some work on it.
The three new songs (one was from a soundtrack) on Best of Vol. 1 were killer and I hope they find a spot for those, but I’m certain it will just be “Humans Being” (my #1 song from the Sammy years).
I’d also like a place for the three new songs from Best of Both Worlds.
After that, bring on VH III (especially a live release) and all the unreleased songs from those sessions and the never-finished album they were doing in 1999!
VH III wasn’t good but the tour sure was.

C'mon, Pete, this is the Internet era - you still want people to judge music by listening to it? With their ears???
We have waveforms! We have other people to prejudge these for us!! The forums will tell us whether or not we should like it! If we have to hear it, we can hear all we need to know from an iPhone recording made on a phone stuffed in someone's pocket.
Listening...how 20th century!
I'm very glad to hear these are coming out. I don't have a lot of hope for bonus tracks, as you said, but that's fine. I'll take what I can get.
I do have a live VH III recording from one of the Radio Waves releases. It's pretty good. Cherone didn't draw any lines in the sand - he was willing to sing stuff from any era, and he did it with enthusiasm, even getting them to resurrect some stuff. I wouldn't mind an official live recording from that era, but I'd rather have one from the first DLR era before that.

You are a wise man, Alan.
And may I say, you have lovely waveforms.

Van Halen will begin revisiting their Sammy Hagar years by releasing the first-ever vinyl edition of Live: Right Here, Right Now on April 22 for Record Store Day.
Bernie Grundman has freshly remastered the band's 1993 live album from the master tapes. Other vinyl reissues from the Hagar period will follow shortly, with the group's longtime engineer, Donn Landee, supervising the work.
Van Halen released four studio albums with Hagar as their singer: 1986's 5150, 1988's OU812, 1991's For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge and 1995's Balance.
In an Instagram post earlier this year celebrating the 28th anniversary of Balance, Hagar hinted that the reissues were on the way, responding to a fan comment asking about potential remasters for 5150 and OU812. “All that is coming soon,” he wrote. “They started with the live album. It’s coming out first and then they’re going to remaster everything."
Van Halen filmed and recorded Live: Right Here, Right Now during two shows at the Selland Arena in Fresno, Calif., on May 14 and 15, 1992, while they were touring in support of For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge. The new collection features all 24 songs from the original 1993 CD release plus three additional live recordings.
Two songs, “The Dream is Over” and “Eagles Fly,” were previously available on the DVD version of the concert. A third, “Mine All Mine,” was recorded in the summer of 1993 and released on a European CD single for a live version of “Jump.”
The four-LP Live: Right Here, Right Now set will arrive on limited-edition red vinyl from Rhino on April 22. You can see the complete track listing below.
Van Halen, 'Live: Right Here, Right Now' Track Listing LP1: 1. "Poundcake" 2. "Judgement Day" 3. "When It's Love" 4. "Spanked" 5. "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love" 6. "In 'n' Out" 7. "Dreams" 8. "Man on a Mission"
LP2: 1. "Ultra Bass" 2. "Pleasure Dome" / Drum Solo 3. "Panama" 4. "Love Walks In" 5. "Runaround" 6. "Right Now" 7. "One Way to Rock"
LP3: 1. "Why Can't This Be Love" 2. "Give to Live" 3. "Finish What Ya Started" 4. "Best of Both Worlds" 5. "316" 6. "You Really Got Me" / "Cabo Wabo"
LP4: 1. "Won't Get Fooled Again" 2. "Jump" 3. "Top of the World" 4. "The Dream Is Over" 5. "Eagles Fly" 6. "Mine All Mine"

Right there with you. I can't wait for the whole "vinyl revival" to head back underground.

Read something lately about vinyl outselling CD's. Well, today's generation aren't buying CD's. The old generation, for the most part, is buying vinyl these days. Vinyl is expensive, and way more than CD's. Not to mention (as I've stated before), taking care of vinyl is a pain. When CD's came out, I was sold.... and still am. No more cleaning records, no more getting pissed when one got a scratch. No more getting pissed about burned-in crackles and pops. No matter how hard one takes care of vinyl, those issues will ALWAYS arise at some point. Then there's warped records. I read about this over and over. I never had that happen and certainly never had a brand new record shipped to the store warped.

Younger people are buying vinyl too. New releases (not catalog) are mostly current artists and bands.

Vinyl sucks. Always did. 8-Tracks and Cassettes sucked too. I had plenty and I don't miss them one bit. The CD was a godsend. SACD, DVD-A and BluRay Audio are also a godsend.

I buy vinyl and CDs. Too often the same titles. They are different experiences to me, and the best-sounding version often varies. I have no use for cassettes.
