I got into Dylan with Street Legal so this album is special to me. I even bought the Japanese import of the album before it had a US release. Interesting that this is only a Japanese import (for now?), but $160 is out of my range for 4 CDs.

If you're not nice
This a domestic release solicited by Sony USA, so I don't know why it's "imported from Japan" except maybe to add to the flavour of it being the Budokan recordings. It does have the look of those old Japan-only releases we had to hunt down in the 1970s, like for Santana, Chicago and Cheap Trick.

Interesting. Then I will assume the price will fall, so just placed my order. Also just looked at the set lists from the two nights and the shows are different enough to have me even more interested in this.

The price is extremely high for a 4 cd set . I thought the $100 for the deluxe version of “ Tell Tale Signs was exorbitant but this has passed that on a per disc basis . Considering the precipitous drop in price on the last bootleg series release ( at one point reaching $30 on Amazon after I paid full price on day of the release ) , I am going to see what happens after a few weeks post release.

$160 for this? This should $50 at most. I’ll listen to the original live album.
Agreed, and particularly, " I’ll listen to the original live album" -- I'd add, 'barely'... I understand that this tour/band actually became more than the 'Las Vegas revue' of this release (how I always thought of it) later in the tour...pity those shows are not released. When I first saw the price I thought it was going to be the run of the tour.

I was shocked when I finally got the chance to open up my box this morning: I've been working quite a bit, so I suppose I don't follow these releases like I used to. Anyway, this is a 12" box with an obi strip and resealable sleeve, and comes with a full-on batch of facsimile items (a reprint of the tour program which is almost entirely in Japanese). The only thing giving it away the fact that it's not a full-blown Japanese import is the US copyright info and the lack of the standard info (release date, etc.) usually found on the obi strip. Sweet!

Could this finally signal the beginning of a price drop on this outrageously priced set. Currently $110.56 for Amazon Prime members. Pretty sure this is the cheapest I've seen yet. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CGZDFNKD/?tag=imwan-20

Splitting hairs I know, but this release is not part of the Bootleg series...more of a hybrid of the Live 'series' (though sorely short in scope - considering how the later shows of the tour are considered superior performance wise) and a 'Japanese-only' release. Considering the price - particularly when compared to the typical Live release items such as the upcoming 74 tour - it's a skip for me as much of a Dylan completist I consider myself. I never really cared for this release - too Fat Elvis in Vegas feel to me. I did revisit - once box available on Prime Streaming - and my opinion had not changed. Had it been in the more appropriate $50 range I would have picked up. By the way, I see on Amazon US it is still available (perhaps only 3rd party, but a number of options).

Thank you for the clarification. For some reason I was thinking this was part of the series.
