Amazing to me that 50 years later there are still unreleased Harvest outtakes!
well, i would really like to know what that 'unreleased' means.
in this case, all 3 songs have been out there and available in more than one place, both live and in the studio.
'bad fog of loneliness' - is on a couple of those early concert CD's he released over the last couple of years plus i know its on one of the archives, no idea which one.
'dance dance dance' is the same as 'bad fog'. it even appears on the first buffalo springfield box set.
'journey through the past', besides being on 'time fades away' it is out there on a couple more occasions and even got re-done for a movie soundtrack in the early 00's
but, with neil young you just never ever know.

i've bought 'harvest"
the vinyl, not sure, but most likely twice. one of my first CD's the remaster with HDCD the official album series box with HDCD removed most of it was 'archives one" including all 3 bonus tracks.
needless to say, i will not be buying this, the video's do nothing for me whatsoever.

I also purchased all of these, plus the DVD-A that Mr Fuse mentioned.
The DVD-A is staying, the earlier iterations of Harvest can go (or have gone already).
I'll get this new edition.
There never comes a time (no pun intended) that I've bought a beloved album "too often". If there's something new, improved and/or extra, I'll buy it again.

Not sure if anyone will care about this project at this point but here is my take on the film that’s included in the Harvest package:
Saw the movie last night in a theater last night and it had a good crowd. The movie starts off with present day Neil talking to the camera about how Harvest came to be (started with the Johnny Cash Show in Nashville and a late night jam session after the taping which included James Taylor and Linda Ronstadt) and how proud he is of the album.
Then we are transported back to the Broken Arrow Ranch in 1972 as the band he has hired sets up in the barn and begins to jam the song Alabama. You get a great peek into how the live songs using a remote truck sounded as they were performed by this brand new group (later called The Stray Gators).
The two highlights of the film for me is the scenes where his CSNY band mates help out with the vocals. We see David Crosby and Stephen Stills assist in a studio with Alabama. And a little later in a different studio, Graham Nash and Stephen Stills assist singing the chorus of Words. In this scene they are having a ton of fun. Some good laughs.
A lot of the movie is about the production of A Man Needs A Maid using the London Symphony Orchestra. Neil plays the piano as the orchestra tries to feel the rhythm he generates. It takes a while to get it right. Some great background stuff in these scenes.
Two funny things stand out. Neil goes to a Nashville radio station just as the album is being finished and is interviewed by Scott Shannon (who ends up being a great Radio DJ in NYC on Z100) and Neil says that he is in the movie that they are making and Scott says cool, when is it coming out? And Neil says soon. . As we now know, it finally has seen the light of day right now in 2022.
Then a young precocious kid (who appears to have cerebral palsy and used crutches) interviews Neil and his band in the lobby about the future of CSNY. Neil says we are taking a break and doing solo stuff but we stay in touch and will be back. Of course we now know they burn their bridges and now don’t talk to each other.
So the movie is a must see for CSNY and Neil fans!

I should post a photo of all my copies of Crosby, Stills & Nash (the couch album) sometime. It's kind of insane. I wasn't going to buy the Mobile Fidelity One Step 45rpm vinyl version, but I finally caved and ordered it. If there's a new version that might be better, I have to have it. Some day when I'm gone my boys will go through my collection and be forced to question everything they thought they knew about me. (Or maybe it will just confirm what they already knew.)
Oh, and I'm getting this new version of Harvest. Of course.
