Agreed. I've held off on all the Bowie boxes, starting with Five Years on, mostly for monetary reasons (no $). But Hunky Dory is my favorite of all his albums, so I'm in.

Some other listings ID only one track to be 5.1 (The 2016 of Life On Mars). I hope Charlie is correct! And glad to see the US price to be in $70s...yesterday's available prices were significantly higher.

Re-reading the solicitation, I think NoURider is correct that "Life On Mars" is the only track in 5.1. The way the label formatted the solicitation, the Blu-ray details were confusingly spread over two lines (see my quote a couple of posts up).
I'm going to change the way those lines are shown in the tracklist located in the first post, which will hopefully clear things up for all of us.

At least my order is still showing - hopefully all will be well.
MAN, I was hoping Charlie's post re 5.1 had been correct. Makes no sense to me why they would 5.1 for one track (unless it was a seperate project I can not recall).

Well. As 'Hunky Dory' is my favourite Bowie album ('Fill Your Heart' aside) this should have been a no-brainer.
As with my favourite Beatles album 'Revolver', however, the deliberate and distinct exclusion of a full 5.1 mix of the album being made available as part of the SDE package is going to force me to vote with the deliberate and distinct sound of my wallet remaining firmly closed.
This is I think where I'm going to draw the line with SDEs - if the master tapes and/or track separation tech is available, then the deliberate withdrawal of a surround mix is inexcusable, and even more so if that unavailability is not reflected in the final purchase price.
And so, as with 'Revolver', I'll obtain this set soon enough anyway 'by different means'.
Let's hope The Who don't latch onto this frustrating and disturbing practice of dropping the surround mix (but still effectively charging you for it) for their future releases once they're done with the 'Who's Next' SDE.
(I know the situation with 'Revolver' is slightly different, but I find it hard to believe there isn't the capabililty to produce a surround mix of 'Hunky Dory' that could/should be included in an SDE)

Amazon has pushed my order back to 12/15. Not sure if that's the case fir everyone, or if I ordered too late for first pressing.
I'm still hoping to get all the new tracks in a hi-res download, but decided to do the preorder just in case there's no release other than this & a hi-res of the blu-ray.

I am so angry at Amazon on this. I pre-ordered on 10/4/22. It was originally supposed to arrive on release day. It's now not going to arrive until 12/14/22. However, for $30 more they currently have it in stock. If I had ordered yesterday, it would have been delivered today. Ordering it today, it would arrive on Monday. I.E. THEY HAVE IT IN STOCK.
I called them & was told the only thing they would do is deliver Monday if I paid an extra $30. What crap. They've really gone downhill this year.
