correct me if i am wrong, please.

spandau ballet = one-hit wonder

and not even the album version of the one-hit.......i think there was easily room for both.

I thought the same thing, and I am a big fan of that one song.

Well, since you asked...
You are wrong.
They sold 25 million albums, and had 5 platinum albums. They had 23 charting singles in Britain, and a similar amount throughout Europe.
You are correct that they were a one hit wonder in the U.S (though they did have 4 charting singles, the other three did not get close to top ten).

edit: As an aside, I hate "True".

It's not all about the US charts Renny. They had multiple top 10 singles in the UK.

If anyone listened to radio stations such as WLIR in NY or KROQ in LA, all of those UK Spandau Ballet hits are just plain hits :D There are LOTS of 'em too!

It's funny because I was going to say that Chant No. 1 and To Cut a Long Story Short were hits. But then I remembered I grew up on KROQ and realized they were just were just hits for their listeners

To my wife and I, they are huge hits! On our honeymoon cruise in 1983, she had only one request of the ship's DJ: "Please play 'Lifeline'!" He did :ohyes:

MuchMusic, the MTV of Canada, played many of those British bands in the early 80s.
