I miss hearing John Denver on the radio. Years ago you'd hear songs like "Sunshine On My Shoulder" and "Rocky Mountain High" on local radio.

Those of you who were distressed by my decision to pass on that new Doors comp from Starbucks will be relieved to know that I bought this new John Denver collection at 'Rama today, to go along side the other 5 or 6 Denver comps already in the Archives. The universe is in harmony once again.

BTW, Denver had 33 hits on the Hot 100, and none of his many comps (including this one) has compiled them all in one handy package.

While my faith in humanity and the order of the universe is somewhat restored, I'm still coming to terms with you not buying that Doors comp, Jimbo!

Hell, I'm even feeling compelled to buy it!! Of course, I only have a paltry two Doors comps in my collection.

That's unfortunate.
Offhand, I don't really know which comp does the best job of collecting tracks, outside of maybe the 4CD John Denver box.

However... sound-wise... with so many John Denver comps out there, many with *differing* sound quality (including the boxset), the tracks for this new RCA/Legacy Essential set were remastered by Bob Irwin and Vic Anesini.
It *should* sound very good given the track record of these guys. Most of the "Essential" CD sets sound excellent IMO.

I never took John Denver seriously until I saw him live (my girlfriend at the time liked him)
He was a real talent, and aside from some of the causes he'd push in his act, he could
put on a pretty good show. Saw him in the mid and the late '80's (in the San Francisco
Bay Area). A shame he died so early, but he left a lot of good music for us.
