Description
The Box Tops' four albums, recorded between 1967 and 1969 for Bell Records, plus bonus tracks. Featuring the pragmatic 16 year old singer Alex Chilton, The Box Tops had a worldwide hit with 'The Letter'. 'Neon Rainbow', 'Cry Like A Baby' and 'Soul Deep' enjoyed similar success. By early 1970 the band, disillusioned by their lack of financial success, split. Alex Chilton went on to form Big Star, enjoying critical acclaim. Though there were periodic Box Tops reunions, these ended with Chilton's premature death in 2010. Digitally remastered and slipcased. Extensive new notes.

nice.

back in the early days of CD the 60's got a pretty good representation by rhino records and their 'best of' - 'greatest hits' packages.most did cover the hits and the songs that got some radio play even if they make it very high on the charts.

then later on a few bands got full coverage, getting their catalogs on CD that usually included a plethora of bonus tracks (albums back then were about 15 to 20 minutes a side, so there was lots of room for more songs.

the last few year however have been re-packaging of those old albums. there are still quite a few 60's bands that never got a true comp of their work, but i never give up, as you never know what you will get.

this boxtops set is how it should be done for all the 60's bands.

Nice to have them back in print. The 4 Sundazed CDs (63 tracks total) are fantastic, I will have to compare the track listings compared to the BGO.

I finally remembered to check, and all of the bonus tracks on the BGO set appear to be included among the bonus tracks on the Sundazed CDs.

Correct. The Sundazed discs have additional bonus tracks, mostly single versions and mono mixes, etc.
