Description
Jefferson Starship is an American rock band from San Francisco that evolved from Jefferson Airplane following the departure of bass player Jack Casady and guitarist Jorma Kaukonen. The band went through several major changes in personnel and genres through the years while retaining the same Jefferson Starship name. The band name was retired in 1985, but was picked up again in the early 1990s by a Paul Kantner-led revival of the group. This 3 CD set is a welcome addition to our family of releases for Jefferson Starship and related artists. Discs 1 and 2 were recorded live at The Bottom Line in 2001 and CD3 is a bonus disc Live from the Melkweg 13th Cannabis Cup 2000.

Anyone know who the other band members are on this release? Especially who is the female vocalist? If it's Diana Mangano I'm probably in.

The group is Diana Mangano, Marty Balin, Paul Kantner, Slick Aguilar and Prairie Prince.

I'm so there!!!!!! Prince is The Tubes drummer, who spent a couple years with JS. He is a killer musician. Curious who the Bass player is, but either way I'm almost certainly in on this one.

Mickey has the name "Starship"; before he passed, Kantner had the name Jefferson Starship. 2 totally different bands with 2 totally different styles. Jefferson was dropped when all the originals left; than Kantner & Balin restarted Jefferson Starship.

By "originals" do you mean original members of Jefferson Airplane or Jefferson Starship?

Because Grace, Chaquico and Sears were all original members of JS and remained after the band became Starship. The dropping of "Jefferson" was 100% because of Paul Kantner's departure, and only Paul Kantner.

I posted something similar in the What are you listening to thread before I finished the set:

I accidentally bought the old 2 cd version. My business used to sell that & I didn't like it & got rid of it. While there is some slop, I like it a lot more know (not sure why), & I really want the new expanded version!

This is electric. If you're good with Acoustic, imo the best post Mickey Thomas albums are JS - Soiled Dove & Paul Kantner's Wooden Ships Ft Lauderdale 12/30/92 (mostly same mostly acoustic band as Soliled Dive). I really like Diana Mangano. 90% as good a vocalist as Slick at her peak, though missing the songwriting chops.
