Pre-Order Richard and the Young Lions - Volume 1!
"A tale of redemption, of reward and resurrection." - Lenny KayeIn the fall of 1966, Richard and the Young Lions had their comet-like blaze of glory when the single "Open Up Your Door" grazed the Hot 100, becoming a regional hit in Cleveland, Salt Lake City, Detroit, Vancouver, and more. Less than a year later the band would be broken up.
The band reunited in 2000 spurred on by the inclusion of "Open Up Your Door" on Rhino Records' expansion of the original "Nuggets" Box Set in 1998.
Unbeknownst to Little Steven his longtime friend "Twig" had been the drummer in the mythical Garage Rock band! Every Sunday for three and a half years the Young Lions would meet to record. Tragically, two weeks after his final lead vocal and to the band's stunned shock, Richard would die of leukemia.
Now after 51 years the album they never got to make in the '60's will finally come out. This album (and the one to follow) are Richard's last will and testament to the power of music to transform and illuminate us.
