From Rob the Caiger on the upcoming Ogdens' 50th Anni reissue. Accompanying a tweet describing the upcoming Record Store Day release of a yellow vinyl 7" single of "Lazy Sunday (newly remastered stereo mix) / Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake (all mono mix)", Rob also tweeted this:
Quote:
Especially proud of this on @ImmediateRecrds for @CharlyRecs @BMGuk as a preview to the forthcoming Ogdens' Nut Gone Flake 3-LP box set / 3-CD + DVD EarBook set. The mix on the b-side will only be available on this single. Limited to 2,000 copies worldwide @SmallFacesFans
So it looks like the upcoming Ogdens' 50th on CD will be 3-CDs plus a DVD. [What's an earbook?] What will be on the DVD? The BBC June 1968 telly show "Colour Me Pop" featuring the SF performing the Ogdens' tunes?

I still continue to enjoy the DVD London concert of Steve Marriott with Jim Laverton & Jerry Shirley, absolutely brilliant stuff. That is all I need or some of the classic Humble Pie CDs.

I guess for me it will depend on the DVD. Otherwise, I think everything has been released...............unless they miraculously found the missing "Be My Baby" and Marriott vocal "(If You Think You're) Groovy".......but not holding my breath on those.

Linda, this is what the "50th" cover supposedly will look like for the box, with the extra perimeter wording. I think this came from a Rob "the Caiger" tweet months ago. Kool !!

Spin CDs says release date is now Sep 28. Details:

THE 50th ANNIVERSARY OF THE ICONIC 1968 ALBUM CELEBRATED WITH DELUXE TRIPLE CD + DVD HARDBACK BOOK
--Originally released by Andrew Loog Oldham’s Immediate Records on 24 May 1968 and soon hit the No.1 spot where it stayed for 6 weeks.
--Critically acclaimed and still featuring in albums-you-must-own-polls, it is by far and away the Small Faces’ best-known and most successful album
--Includes ‘Lazy Sunday’, ‘Afterglow’ plus ‘Song Of A Baker’ and live favourite ‘Rollin’ Over’
--Newly remastered by Nick Robbins at Soundmastering with the full cooperation of surviving Small Faces member Kenney Jones. This is the best Ogdens’ has ever sounded!
--60-page hardback book edition contains 3CDs for mono and stereo versions of the album plus rare bonus material
--DVD contains the Small Faces legendary TV performance of “Happiness Stan” for the BBC’s “Colour Me Pop” programme in June 1968, together with Peter Whitehead’s promotional film for ‘Lazy Sunday’.
--In-depth sleeve notes by Small Faces authority and Mojo contributor Mark Paytress, interviews, rare photos and memorabilia.
The track listing shown is EXACTLY the same as the 3-CD set from 2012, and they don't show the DVD tracks (I hope it's not just the 2 tracks listed above, ugh). I don't know what this means, are the CDs going to be exactly the same, or did Spin just cut and paste the 2012 track listing?

OK, I'm guessing that the above "Happiness Stan" refers to the entire suite (as Side 2 of Ogdens was so designated), and not just the song itself.
As we know, the "Colour Me Pop" show was on the Small Faces DVD "All or Nothing 1965-1968" from 2015. But Wiki says that 'most' of the show was on the DVD, thus not all of it. Thru internet investigation, it appears the "Lazy Sunday" promo video is what's missing, which sequentially was shown as song #2, after "Song of a Baker" and before the "Happiness Stan" suite began. Very glad to have it included here. I would also assume "Song of a Baker" (not part of the suite) will likewise be included since it was part of the show.
I've seen the very funny "Lazy Sunday" video so many times it never occurred to me it wasn't on the "All or Nothing" DVD, hmmm...

The "Song Of A Baker" performance offers proof of Steve Marriott being one of the great guitarists of the 1960s, for which he's rarely acknowledged:
