Don't care much about this single, though it IS purty, but I read this on-line which is of more interest (to me, at least):
Quote:
A digitally-remastered version of the film is returning to cinemas for the first time since 1999. Event-style 50th anniversary screenings will take place in July, with the film restored in 4K digital resolution by Paul Rutan Jr. and the team at Triage Motion Picture Services and Eque Inc. The film score has been remixed in 5.1 stereo surround sound at Abbey Road Studios by Peter Cobbin.
A new surround version of the score sounds intriguing. No doubt a new DVD/ Blu-ray will follow, and maybe an audio-only release of the new mix? Now Apple needs to work on releasing Let It Be to DVD/Blu!

No.

are run of the mill capitol beatle albums still selling? you know the ones i mean, they sold millions (literally) of them.
Yes, they still sell and are still desirable because they were played to death and (usually) on cheap turntables so finding one in good shape can be difficult.

Two songs at $9/each - this gives me super high hopes for a 50th anniversary white album.
Two songs at $9/each and yucky sound quality too! (Unless they've found some way to make these picture discs actually sound tolerable. I'm not even sure the Beatles can do that.)

New picture discs sound fine. Nothing like the ones from the late 70s, early 80s which seemed to be cardboard with a thin veneer over top. Noisy sounding and heck on your stylus. (Yes, I feel so strongly about it I went to the "h" word!) Even though the new ones sound good, I can't imagine anyone buying it is doing so to play it.

Is it just me? Wasn't Yellow Submarine a crappy movie? (not that I haven't bought the DVD at least twice and the soundtrack/songtrack CD at least four times)

While I'm still a huge fan of the Beatles music, it wouldn't surprise me if I never watch any of the 5 films again (though I own them all).
a few years ago i was going top show one of the beatle films to my rock and roll class, after the first period they asked me politely not to continue it the next day.
