I have the two Wounded Bird editions. I will have to wait until I hear from somebody whether the sound quality is worth buying. Firts album was great. The second.....not so much

I agree with Mike. I've loved the first SHF Band album upon my first listen upon release. The second had good moments, but reflected the stress within the band at the time. Still, I was disappointed when they slip up.

"Fallin' in Love" from the first album was a Top 30 hit, but not easy to find on CD. I bought the Wounded Bird reissue mostly for that one song.

I found German imports of these titles used quite afew years back so I'm covered. Renny is right, these are good records.

please don;t dismiss the second album by these guys......i know a couple of posts above kind of dismiss it, but i have been listening to it for years, and personally i like the second one better than the first. i think the instrumentation on the second one is much better.....and yes i know it's the same band. just something about it.

Still prefer the first one for the following reasons. First, Richie's songs were more upbeat. Second, Jim Gordon/Joe Lala on "Border Town". Third, Chris Hillman's songs were not very good (which, he admits that he was saving the best songs for his solo album and is borne out by the songs on Slipping Away). Fourth, they needed Frey and Henley to help on vocals on "Somebody Must Be Wrong". Just an opinion. It's rare that a first album that's good is followed by a solid second album (similar to, Manassas "Down The Road" which was, at best, a good half-album)
