Description
After the success of last year’s ‘Misplaced Childhood’ box set, the Marillion reissue campaign continues into 2018 with a similarly lavish multi-disc set of 1994 fan favourite ‘Brave’.

Wilson has remixed the original album in 5.1, which should delight fans, as a new mix is likely to bring out some of the more subtle elements of the original recording. A hi-resolution stereo mix will also be included.

The blu ray disc will include a documentary on the making of the band’s concept masterpiece, though details on this are rather scant. The original ‘Brave’ movie will not be included.

Two discs of live material will compliment the studio material. The show from La Cigale in Paris will be released in complete form for the first time. The main ‘Brave’ set was originally released as disc two of the ‘Made Again’ live album in 1995, but the encores have never been issued commercially. In addition to the complete ‘Brave’ on the first live CD, a second disc will include ‘Cover My Eyes’, ‘Slainte Mhath’, ‘Sugar Mice’, ‘Sympathy’, ‘Easter’, ‘Waiting To Happen’, ‘Hooks In You’ and ‘The Space…’.

I'm seeing Marillion on the boat in just over 2 weeks so this is timely and will be much discussed on board I'm sure, Marillion fans are fanatical.

I really would have preferred more Fish era (Especially Clutching At Straws & Live At Loreley); but I'll be in for this when the price drops.

Apparently the inclusion of both the Wilson remix and the original version means no b-sides (unlike the preceding Misplaced Childhood box set), so collectors will still need to hang onto their 2CD remaster from 1998 and/or the various Brave-era CD singles.

Pre-orders placed through the band's official website before February 16 will also receive an exclusive autographed A4 print.

I’m not a fan and won’t get this but I’m very surprised they didn’t include b-sides and studio outtakes on such a lavish box set.

Apparently the more expensive Roxy Music box set is similar with the fact it misses one or 2 b-sides as well!

Bizarre considering the opportunity for all the key music can be put together on 1 box at last.

I'm sure it's a price point thing (5 discs versus 6 discs)... and let's face it, the interest in this box will be driven far more by Wilson's involvement and the expanded Cigale show than a disc of tracks many Marillion fans have already owned for nearly a decade via the 1998 remaster.

I have little interest in this.

While I know Wilson will do a fantastic job, no b-sides and live tracks I'd listen to once or twice won't justify the price to me.

2 fyi's:

1. Blu-ray contains multiple hi-res versions of the album (no bonus trax) & a few videos.

2. Ordering direct from Marillion, today's price with shipping to the USA is 29.62 pounds (best price I've seen so far, but still way out out of my price range)

Sucks that the new live material is cd only.

Not only that, if you have Made Again like I do, you have half of the live release already.

This is a definite pass for me.

An album that brings back very bad memories for me (a sad break up and the year I lost my health and had to graduate college somehow), and an album I initially did not like, I now very much appreciate about 75-80% of the material and the concept.

Sadly, this was the first album they did not tour the US.

Now the USA pre-order price has dropped to $38.17, and the UK price has dropped to £25.32.

I was looking at this on their website today. It has the same issues as the Misplaced Childhood box & the Roxy Music box:

1. High Price
2. No hi-res Wilson 2.0
3. Concert is cd only.

While I bought MPC, I'm probably going to pass here. If they'd just filled the blu-ray with items 2 & 3 in 96/24 I likely would have been in.
