Don't know about this re-recorded and adding more songs business. The original is a masterpiece and when the hype release states "undoubtedly belongs in every metal head's record collection" they aren't kidding. Great album.

Is it re-recorded? I'm not seeing that in the label's description.

In honour of the 25th anniversary of their critically acclaimed album The Crimson Idol, the shock-rock trailblazers W.A.S.P. are embarking on a UK tour performing the album in its entirety.

The performance will include a set compromising of The Crimson Idol album accompanied by the film in addition to a handful of fan favourites.

From what has become an almost annual visit to the UK shores, the band is set to visit towns and cities previously missed on former tours. Given the venues listed being substantially larger in size from 2016’s UK tour, you can expect a fuller stage show, in more equipped settings.

In addition, W.A.S.P. will be releasing a re-recorded version of The Crimson Idol along with a 50 minute DVD film of the entire story.

But that was a report from all the way back in January. Maybe they didn't re-record it after all. But the original album had 10 songs and this release has 16. The six added songs are:
-Michael's Song
-Miss You
-Hey Mama
-The Lost Boy
-The Peace
-Show Time
There were several CD singles released for the original album and none of the above songs appeared on them. There were two songs on the CD singles that were recorded with the original album ("Phantoms in the Mirror" and "The Eulogy"), I'd guess those were the only original songs that were left over from the original album recording. "Miss You" was released on a W.A.S.P. album in 2015. It may or may not have been a leftover from The Crimson Idol album...hard to say as the lyrics may fit in but are not specific to the concept. I know nothing about the other five songs but I don't claim to be a later-era W.A.S.P. expert so they could be out there and I just don't know about them.

Based on what I know I'd guess that at least 5 of the 16 songs are new recordings...Blackie could have just gone in and done recordings for those songs and mixed them in with the other 11 previously recorded songs. I don't know if I'll be interested in buying this album but now I am kind of interested to see exactly what this is.
