A new 2-CD/1-Blu-ray Audio deluxe edition that includes the original studio album, ten previously unreleased live recordings, as well as hi-res and 5.1 mixes. Presented in an 11 x 11 hardbound book, the set also features rare and unseen photos from the era, a replica tour book, and three stand-alone posters. The collection also marks the debut of ten live tracks that were recorded during the band's three-night stand at the Los Angeles Forum in October 1976. The concert recordings which were recorded about a month before the album came out features one of the first ever live performances of Hotel California and New Kid In Town along with other Eagles classics including "Already Gone," "Take It To The Limit," and "Witchy Woman." The Blu-ray Audio disc that accompanies HOTEL CALIFORNIA: DELUXE EDITION features the 5.1 Surround Sound mix originally released on DVD-A in 2001 along with a hi-resolution, 192 KHz/24-Bit stereo mix.

When this was first posted, there was only the single disk. Now I see the deluxe edition and I'm hoping there's some good bonus tracks!

Ooh, Hotel California in surround sound. Nice. What's not nice is that initial price. With only 3 discs and no vinyl, there's no reason this thing should ever be listed for $99.99.

Hmmm, I wonder if they made Don Felder smaller in that group photo on purpose. Geez.

Doesn't that photo say everything there is to say about his place in the group? From reading his book I got the impression that he never really fit in.

if i recall correctly, that photo was on the inside of the gatefold cover of the album, but it was in black and white.

This is a $35 box set. I preordered it this morning with bonus tracks sight unseen. If this doesn't drop by $65 come release day, I'll probably cancel. I can live without the live show and surround sound.

10 live songs? They couldn't have mustered more than a measly 10 songs?

My thoughts exactly. 10 songs from 3 nights, not even close to a complete show and no outtakes? I'll pass.

Some of these Deluxe/Anniversary releases are so well done and are worth (within reason) what they charge. And others, like this one, are extremely poorly done, and very easy to pass on. This seems to be a massive missed opportunity!!
