Description
This collection spotlights every single, and B-side, the band released, all gathered together for the first time. This 2CD/1Blu-ray release also includes four “Mono Radio Versions” of some of the band’s biggest hits, such as “Hello, I Love You” and “Touch Me,” which have never been made available anywhere after being sent to radio around their original release. It also includes high-resolution quadrophonic mixes of the 1973 compilation The Best Of The Doors on Blu-ray for the first time.

This "should" be the first worthy comp in 30 years...

EDIT: I've seen it reported that in addition to the 2CD comp, there will be a 2CD/BD option (both to be released on 8/25), and there will be a 7" vinyl box with 20 45s (to be released on 9/15).

And single version of Riders On The Storm...

If they include all the A's n B's, it could be 36 or 38 or 40 tracks, depending on the cutoff point. Definitely doable to include them all on 2 CDs...

Man, for somebody who is speechless you keep speaking (and repeating) the same comment. And so what they had 'only' 4 hours of studio. They made 5 excellent and some truly classic studio albums, ok maybe 4, The Soft Parade not so sure.

Some bands like the 'The La's' and Sex Pistols made one true studio album but it is what it is. Love the art and be grateful.

my problem is the saturation level at which the doors ave been taken to, not the doors music.

it is a true shame, IMHO (obviously not yours) of how this has been handled over the years.

the whole experieince hendrix camp is right up there too. hendrix made 4 1/2 studio albums (5 if you give 'cry of love full credit) and has been doing the exact same thing.

and yes i get the whole "art" issue....they created it and it is their right to do with their art what they please...and if people are willing to shell out cash for these things i guess i would be doing the same thing too.

No need to be unsure. It is.

I agree that the Doors have far too many comps available, but if this is done right, by including the right mono mixes and edits, it would be a valuable addition to their catalog. All those greatest hits and best of collections are just rehashes of the album tracks. With the title "The Singles" I am hoping for something more.

I know - or, at least presume - that you're talking about it being released as part of an album. But, I guess more for the historical record than anything else, the single version has been issued on CD in the US - as a CD single in Elektra's Backtrax series in 1992. Here's a picture of a sealed copy on Amazon:

(Don't get excited by the Amazon reference, they list it as one of those 'we don't know if we'll ever get one' items.)

Gary,

Correct. I meant readily available on a comp.

That isn't the real mono single edit but a stereo approximation.

If complete, this also should include "Ghost Song" and "Roadhouse Blues" (live) from An American Prayer as well as the singles from the post-Morrison albums.

If they do this right I am interested (and they won't.)

Ghost Song wasn't issued as a single in the United States.
Roadhouse Blues (Live) / Albinoni: Adagio was the single from An American Prayer.

LOL.

I'll never understand why some people have such problems with compilations, no matter what the number. Don't buy if you don't want to. Someone thinks that money can be made by releasing it. This issue seems to live rent free in some people's heads. It's their property and they can do what they want with it. I wouldn't care if there was a new compilation every week.
