Description
Special Deluxe Collector's Edition / Fully Remastered Audio / Multi-Platinum selling debut from this sensational supergroup featuring members of Journey and the Babys / Includes the #1 international hit single 'When I See You Smile' / 16 page full colour booklet - 4,000 word essay, enhanced artwork with previously unseen photos and a new interview. There were many attempts at piecing together supergroups during the late '80s but few were as successful as Bad English, a project born from the mash-up of two hugely influential outfits, namely the Babys (John Waite, Ricky Philips) and Journey (Jonathan Cain, Neal Schon and, later, Deen Costronovo). Both groups had featured talent to die for so anticipation was extremely high for this noble alliance. Fortunately, unlike similar collaborations, the results were spectacular, leaving no one in any doubt that Bad English had delivered a cornerstone record, one that is still revered to this day. Fronted by the stunning and instantly identifiable voice of John Waite, and ably supported by guitar firebrand Neal Schon, the album contains a brace of superior tracks that elevated the record to platinum status and beyond. Signed to the Epic Records label and produced by Richie Zito (Eddie Money, Cheap Trick, Heart) it boasted no less than five hit singles, including 'Price Of Love' and the chart topping #1 power ballad 'When I See You Smile'. It was a record constructed with pin point accuracy crushing the competition by a country mile. Issued in June 1989, their commercial accomplishments belies the band's true depth, a powerhouse rock band laying down the law with grit and determination, as demonstrated on tracks like 'Possession', 'Best Of What I Got', 'Forget Me Not' and 'Rockin' Horse'; all scorching examples of a style and sound that has not diminished one jot over time. No wonder the album sold Platinum and beyond.

I've been hoping the 2 albums would get remastered.

While Bad English were fairly generic AOR (whatever the hell that means), this was a pretty good album and quite successful with 5 hit singles and Platinum sales.

They were another in a long line of 80s supergroups who started big and quickly folded due to egos.

I still have the original CD release and will get this. The second album they did was hit and miss, but this one was very good. But I detest When I See You Smile for some reason.

Because it's awful and a Diane Warren composition!

But yeah, this was a good album and "Forget me Not" was a kick-ass tune.

Yeah, I remember when "Forget Me Not" was released and I thought "oh shit, Neal Schon finally went for the hard rock thing."

Then "When I See You Smile" came out and I just thought WTF?

Even though that hit #1 it was dreck.

"Forget Me Not" was so heavy, I was surprised it even became a hit (nearly reaching the Top 40).

Of course it helped that the MTV video had a model in her underwear prancing around.

Ghost in Your Heart was also a favorite of mine on there.

Only because it is Rock Candy that I would get this. I know they can get the "rock" out of it.

I saw them a few times on their first tour and most were fairly generic, but saw one date where they did an extended song list and added a couple of blues covers that absolutely blew my face off. I wish I could remember what songs they had done. It's a shame they never did a live recording.

Wish me luck. I just ordered this remaster of their second album by the label, Southworld. One reviewer said that sound is good.

For $10.20 (at my posting), it's a steal.
