Description
Untold Passion is the debut album by the duo of guitarist Neal Schon and keyboardist Jan Hammer. Schon is the guitarist for Journey and Hammer is best known for his soundtrack work on the Miami Vice TV series. Jan was also one of the leading figures in fusion jazz, being one of the original members of the Mahavishnu Orchestra. Neal plays guitar, synth guitar and does the vocals on this album. Jan plays the drums, keyboards and synthesizer. Untold Passion debuted on the Billboard Music Charts on 10/17/81 for 8 weeks and peaked at 115. This CD features the bonus track "Planet Empathy".

Here To Stay is the second album by the duo of keyboardist Jan Hammer guitarist Neal Schon. This album also features contributions from Schon's band mates in Journey including songwriting and background vocals from Steve Perry. The album cover is a play on the well known Arm & Hammer brand baking soda. Here To Stay debuted on the Billboard Music Charts on 2/5/83 for 12 weeks and peaked at 122. This album is a must have! It includes the bonus track "Weekend Heaven".

These are really two fun albums. They went out of print quickly, especially the second "Here To Stay".

Even the compilation CD gleaned from these two albums went out of print!

Probably best to get these as soon as they're released.

I love "No More Lies" and when I heard it I went out and bought both these albums. Sorry to say it was the only song I liked on either record.

I personally like the "feel" of these records. No pretentions, just rocking out and having a good time. Seems that way to me when I played them. The first was the best and the GH comp is a real "fun" play. And yeah, "No More Lies" is Great!

Agreed.

That song rocks, but that was the only good one.

Journey even played it on tour.

MTV played the hell out of it and the video was campy fun.

These have been available as a 2-fer digital download for several years, so it's nice to see them on CD again. They were released individually on CD by Sony Japan 25 years ago. The Razor & Tie collection (which I own) was missing one track which was replaced by the Miami Vice theme.

Bump: Added the descriptions to the first post. Each CD will include a bonus track!

Aw Jeez. You guys really didn't like Don't Stay Away, Time Again or Self Defense (which I believe may have also been played by Journey live at one point)?!

I can say I actually really, really loved almost all of Here To Stay. Untold Passion, not so much. Heck, Turnaround reminds me of Ace Frehley's solo album meets pre-Perry Journey.

Totally affected by the 80s, and in this case, that's not a bad thing! Such a fun record!

These definitely sound better than the Razor & Tie collection!
