Description
Timothy B. Schmit is one of the finest singer, songwriter and most utilized musicians to ever come out of the California classic rock genre of the 1970's. Mastering his unique vocal style and bass work, he got his first break in the business replacing Randy Meisner as bassist for the pioneering country rock band Poco, alongside the legendary Richie Furay. After several hit albums, he replaced Randy Meisner once again, but this time with The Eagles, joining them for their multi-platinum smash The Long Run.

After The Eagles took their initial break from the recording scene, they all embarked on amazing solo careers. Timothy later delivered his debut solo Playin It Cool, a dynamic treasure trove of fan favorites featuring the voice and artistry of the legendary Timothy B. Schmit.

Featuring his single hits Playin' It Cool and So Much In Love, as well as more rock classics like his stellar Something's Wrong featuring the multi-guitar attack of Joe Walsh, Steve Lukather and Josh Leo, plus the stunning balladry of Tell Me What You Dream which was also a hit years later for Restless Heart, all truly made this one of the finest debut solo recordings of the classic rock era.

Timothy brought his years of solid musicianship and vocal expertise for this amazing solo album, which has been out of print for many years.....until now.

Friday Music is very pleased to announce the newly original recording master compact disc release of Playin' It Cool by Timothy B. Schmit. Impeccably mastered by Joe Reagoso (Randy Meisner/Bernie Leadon/Don Felder/Joe Walsh) this limited edition CD also contains more favorites like Wrong Number, Gimme The Money and Take A Good Look Around You.

Produced by Timothy B. Schmit and Josh Leo (J.D. Souther, Glenn Frey) and featuring a plethora of legendary musicians like his fellow Eagles Don Henley & Joe Walsh plus J.D. Souther, Toto's Steve Lukather, David Paich and Jeff Porcaro, the late Carl Wilson from The Beach Boys, Rita Coolidge, the late Doobie Brother Keith Knudsen plus Max Gronenthal from .38 Special/Grand Funk Railroad, this impeccably mastered Playin' It Cool CD will become one of the highlight classic rock reissues this season.

For a very limited time, we are also enhancing your listening enjoyment with the original classic LP cover elements, which haven't been available for years.

Mastered by Joe Reagoso from the original Asylum Records tapes at Friday Music Studios, the classic revisit of Timothy B. Schmit's Playin' It Cool will be one of the more anticipated classic singer/songwriter albums in some time.

Celebrate the voice, the songs, the musicianship and the memories of Timothy B. Schmit's debut Playin' It Cool....an original recording impeccably mastered....An exclusive....Only from your friends at Friday Music.

The price has finally dropped a bit, reduced by $4, down to $14.99:

(Two copies remaining in stock at the time I'm posting this.)

I just snagged the last one, but apparently there are more on the way. This is the third time I've bought this album (LP and the reissue from a few years ago).

For all those who have bought all the digital releases, which one has the best sound. I’m so sceptical of all this impeccably mastered by Joe Reagoso bs on everything. Stuff is coming out faster than a speeding bullet by this man (who is not a highly recognized mastering enginneer) and his label on both vinyl & CD. It really makes me wonder. As much as I like the stuff that’s coming out on this label, it’s not all an automatic buy, based on the mastering.

From what I've seen posted about the net, the "mastered by Joe Reagoso" credit doesn't mean anything much. He basically receives the files from whichever label he licences the music from, and cuts it as is. So if you buy a Monkees release from Friday Music, it's essentially the mastering done by Bill Inglot or Dan Hersch, with maybe the levels futzed with a little bit. Joe Reagoso owns the label, and probably writes the solicitation copy.

if you bought this, or are contemplating buying it, and you like it, i highly recommend his entire solo catalog.

not a clunker in the lot.

and by the way, for you completists out there, he has a few nice one-offs too.
