The Experience Hendrix peeps are back at it again, reissuing the same warmed over stuff that has been available as boots for years. Can't wait for the special limited single that has another live version of Foxy Lady or Purple Haze,

Ransakawa, I thought there was a complete Fillmore box already. What's new/exclusive here?
I was thinking the same thing when I read Linda's post. If so, perhaps there's one extra song that they just found yesterday under the floor boards or in the dumpster. Gotta love these dopey music industry cliches!

There is no full box set of BOG recordings. I had hoped they would issue a box much the same as Winterland shows, sadly it's going to be just this CD it seems!
There is a bootleg box set called Box Of Gypsys which has the complete shows plus the final show they did at Madison Square Garden in Feb 1970. That box is not bad but obviously the sound is mostly AUD recordings.
There was a 2 CD set (official) which has a mixed set from the 4 shows. Note those tracks were sourced from 2 track mix downs.
This new 2016 CD apparently contains for the first time ever genuine multi track mixes from one of the shows. Dec 31 1969

These tracks are from the archives of Microsoft executive Steve Paul. He actually owns (owned) the original multi track tapes of the entire Band Of Gypsys live concerts.

Interesting--I would have thought that the masters were part of the whole Bill Graham/Wolfgang's Vault stash. In checking over at Concert Vault, I do see where the first five songs from this show appear to be streaming over there. http://www.concertvault.com/band-of-gyp ... early.html

How did Steve Paul beat Paul Allen of Microsoft on this? Allen actually started a museum for Hendrix and owns guitars that were once Jimi's. Interesting.... Very competitive those folks at Mr.Softy.

Many thanks to Linda for posting the preview, "Power Of Soul." It's the first time I've been able to hear Jimi's vocals on that particular performance.

the worst management of any catalog ever.

the title itself screams "second show" coming soon.
i don't buy them, never will buy them, let the man rest in peace......please.
Is it really necessary to trot out a "worst management/ greed" regurgitation ? IMO overall the catalog has been much better off since Experience Hendrix took it over. For the majority of the material that has been issued or reissued I've been pleased with the vast improvements in audio quality and packaging vs my collection of bootlegs and prior releases. Whether it's one BOG show at a time or all at once, nobody is forcing you or anyone else to buy em. I'm sure many others will choose to enjoy them and continue to celebrate the man's legacy and influence.
