Does this include any of the "missing" albums on CD?
yes.
jay,
time fades away is on the 5-8 set. and also on that set are 'tonight's the night" and "zuma", neither of which have ever been remastered since their initial release years ago. I really hope young is still using HDCD and encodes these with it.
the other set has the stills-young band, which also has never been remastered and is not presently available in HDCD. i'm not sure what the other 4 albums are on the 8.5-12 set.

I don't remember the exact price, but I got a good deal on the first set from PopMarket, when they used to have good deals, although it took them a long time to fulfill.
The label did a really nice job in reproducing the original album covers and artwork in mini-LP style.

I know 5-8 is just a CD version of the previously released vinyl box but I was really hoping the CD box would include Journey Through the Past. I knew I wasn't being realistic, but I was hoping...and I'm not normally an optimist! .He could've called it Discs 4.5- 8

I'm not a biggest Niel Young fan, but I had Live Rust on vinyl years ago and loved it. I'll get the box with that in it just for the remaster..... finally.

I'm hoping these will be available separately at a later date. The first collection had bare bones booklets, while the stand-alone disc had full booklets.

I assume you are referring to the rip-off gold CD box? Use the same mastering and issue on gold with a limited edition number to suck in the completists. I am hoping they do include a book with these two new sets and forget the AU colour.
Here at the JavaOne conference in San Francisco Neil Young just announced that his whole life’s work will be made available on in a dynamically updating collection delivered on Blu-ray disk. After his Keynote announcement I was fortunate enough to participate in a small group interview with a handful of other bloggers. Young offered interesting replies to questions about Trent Reznor and music piracy, about MP3 sound quality and about the way the web enables his extensive work on electric cars.
